A TEASING HINT

The same issue that Martin produced his place-holder strip, the following appeared as a two-page "Fat Facts" article. The tiny graphic behind Joy is by C.C. Beck, best known for illustrating Captain Marvel comics in the 1940's. He, along with prolific comics writer Otto Binder, created Fatman for Lightning Comics in 1967. When Joy returned in the August '87 issue of BUF, it indeed was to be swept away by the portly superhero - and to hell with story continuity. (Say, whatever happened to that sleazy Brick guy, anyway?)
