"Family Life," the second in the Recipients series, was originally written for the third issue of Wilson Barbers Newsletter. When it first came out I remember F.A. writer R.B. Lawrence telling me that my use of a celebrity inspired heroine worked against his appreciation of the tale: he didn't find the thought of her transformation appealing, and I can't say that I blame him. (I find the figure in question to be rather obnoxious myself.) For me, the best parts of the piece are the follow-up to Robin and Ira's story.
This version of "Family Life" has been tweaked to correct some continuity flaws that were exacerbated by my writing of yet a third Recipients tale, "Receiving." This consistency thing can be a major pain sometimes.
