The story "Collectibles" was obviously inspired by my own love for fat-themed collectibles and comic postcards, in particular. The items described in the story are, by and large, based on actual old-time postcards, with a few obvious differences: I combined the first two cards, for instance - an unknown artist with a Wellman - because it better suited the story progression. My hope, of course, is that readers'll be able to appreciate the story without possessing prior knowledge of postcard collecting, but the fatabiliac in me can't resist showing 'em off.
