PURCHESS BLOG

[11:00 a.m.]

So, of course, you know I was unable to squeeze into my dress by Saturday morning. (Yes, I realize I wrote I wouldn't be bloggin' again 'til Monday - but this'll be a quickie, I promise!) But while I'd been lying in bed - in between memories of my unforgettable D.Q. bender - I came up with a nifty stopgap measure.

Pulled my old Singer out of the closet, took my "super" and "goddess" dresses (shouldn't have thrown away that "empress," but you know what they say about hindsight - and I've got a lotta hind!) and finished snipping 'em apart at the seams. Removed the sleeves and used some of the "super" fabric to add six inches along both sides. Results weren't fancy, but I still had enough leftover high school Home Ec in me to do a passable job.

One thing I immediately noticed: my revamped dress shows more leg than it use to. My legs are still pretty shapely, though the lower third of my inner calves both seem to be developing an extra fold. Too, without any sleeves on my dress, my arms are pretty unavoidable. Hadn't realized how much my upper arms draped over my elbows.

But enough physical cataloging. That's not the reason I'm posting today. Just got off the phone with Tripper, and it looks as if I'm gonna be a full-timer! This couldn't happen at a better time: I've pretty much worked through the last of my savings.

I'll be dividing my time between my Mystery Shopping duties and managing the office. One of the reasons Tripper's been so hard to reach is tied into this. The company's been building a spiffy new office, and he wants me to come over and see it this afternoon. Looks as if my career as a Mystery Shopper is about to pay off in a big way!

See you (really!) on Monday with the juicy details.
