View Full Version : Vanessa: A Day in a 'Fat Suit'! It is becoming a fad!

Vanessa Mannillo from ET spent the day in a 350 lb fat suit.

"As someone in the public eye, I've dealt with my fair share of people staring at me," says Vanessa. "But for the first time in my life, I found out what it's like to have people turn away and avoid eye contact -- in fact, do everything in their power to steer clear. It was shocking. It was hurtful."

And of course the follow up is tiny Vanessa going the same places wearing the same type of clothes...

Wonder who else will try running around town in a fat suit, seems to be a fad..

Do you suppose it's the same suit just being passed around? And what about the possibility that a few of these hosts might run into each other somewhere wearing fat suits? Three or more of them converging on each other in the same store or subway.

It has the makings of a MAD TV skit

I am personally willing to try the 'Tall person in a short suit' to see if get treated any worse.

I watched this today. Her suit was worst then Tyra's. There wasn't any sense of proportion. At one point, when she was on the subway, a man stares at her face but it was obvious he was staring at her lousy facial makeup instead of her "fat".

I have to agree with Lilly in the first thread. Why can't they bother to make her an attractive fat girl? Instead they distort the face until its ugly and strange, and I can't imagine that the padding in any way moves or sits like real fat in real life.

And did they just cut and paste Tyra's reactions? Or were they pinned to the suit when they sent it over? Something tells me that these B-list celebraties with scripted shows might have had this one scripted out before the suit was donned in the first place...

JMO...

Didn't ET do this a couple years ago? All these newsmagazine shows are started to blur together a few years ago.

Did these shows have a point to make or a method to this madness? Or is it just something they use to fill dead space in their show?

This link includes pics and videos of Vanessa Mannillo in the fat suit. I just have to say, HOT DAMN! She looks hotter. :smitten: Too bad it isn't for real.

Because there is no room in their minds for the concept of an attractive fat girl. More's the pity.

CBS Early Show had another model do that, and was on this morning. I don't remember her name, but she had an interview with Katie Curic. You gotta wonder why "everybody" seems to be doing it now. It's not like fat is something new.

Anyway, this gal was waiting to get on the subway, I think, when a woman got right up in her face and was repeatedly yelling, "You're fat! You're fat!" at her. She was discriminated against in a clothing store and at a restaurant.

Wish I had a link for it, but then again, it's more of the same of what we saw in the earlier link.

What I'd like to see is for them to capture an FA stalking her about in a Walmart. Amid all the reactions and staged performances of the extras they've hired to randomly approach and tell her how gross she is, in the background you would at some point see the same guy appear time after time pretending to look at the 'Timex' watches in a baseball cap, tinted glasses and a mustache. I'd break down and pay for cable to see entertainment like that.

Ok, I have no photoshop skills, so just imagine me reposting your avatar picture with a hat, and the glasses and a bad mustache added.

So glad this topic was brought up ... I just cannot believe TV producers actually think "fat suits" look real. I watched both Tyra and Vanessa dressed up as fat gals and couldn't decide whether to laugh my a$#% off ... or get depressed over the absurdity of it all.

Vanessa wearing her fat suit said something like, "Can you imagine not being able to dress yourself everyday?" (LOL .. Vanessa girl, I couldn't dress myself either if I was wearing a Serta mattress and box springs! )

And Tyra was set up with "blind dates" and what did she do? She immediately started ATTACKING them with probing questions about her size! Trying her best to get them to "run away" from her on camera.

Next time they want to do an "experiment" to show how miserable us big gals are "supposedly" supposed to feel about ourselves, why not just send a REAL LIFE large size beauty into the streets and see how people REALLY react?

A long time ago, a skinny gal dressed in a fat suit was sent out to see if people would stare at her. When those that stared were later interviewed and asked WHY .. they said they stared because they "couldn't believe that anyone would go out wearing a fat suit in such HOT weather!"
