hey, all.
my mom is complaining that she no longer has any jeans to wear, so i was thinking of getting her some for Christmas. Only problem? I'm not sure of her size.
She's about 300 lbs, 5'6", pear-shaped. I know that there are variations and things, but approximately what size jeans do you i should get her? any bbw that can help me out, here? im looking in your direction ;)

Get her a thong. One size fits all, I hear tell...

I'd go with a 24, but I'd get something with some stretch. If she doesn't mind it, there are some cuter ones with a little bit of elastic in the back of the waist out now. It bothers some women, though. However, every store and brand sizes things differently, so don't forget to get a gift receipt :)

Hey man, gotta let the freak flag fly... sorry 'bout the loss of vision, though... Who do I make the charitable donation out to?
Off the op of my head I'd say 24-26, but it's so hard to guess. If you have an Avenue store there, I adore their stretch denim jeans. They look like regular jeans -- no stretchy part in the back (which I abhor), but they stretch all over. They feel wonderful on, and I wear them all the time. I adore them. Did I say that already? :p
I am about 5'5"-5'6" and weigh about 345 -- extremely pear-shaped, and I wear a 30. It's hard to fit pears, because if your hips and legs are big, but your waist is thinner, it's often a strugle to have it all fit the way it should, but these do. You might also consider giving her a gift certificate, if you really aren't sure. Beyond that, does she have other pants that fit that you can measure? Lay them on the bed and measure the waist and the hips (doubling the measurement, of course) and that should give you a good idea, knowing if they're baggy or if they're tight is important, too. Take the measurements in and have the manager help you, if possible. And most stores will let her take them back and exchange them if they don't fit.

You could possibly just get her a gift card to.. say.. Lane Bryant.

Buy her a gift certificate so she can go and try on the jeans. People with large hip to waist ratio often have issues with jeans, mainly a gaping waist and snug everywhere else.

thanks so much. you've all been really helpful.
the gift certificate scenario does sound like an idea. im not sure why i didnt think of it.
anyway, thanks again for all the suggestions. i really appreciate it.
and Fatlane, you don't have to donate anything. Just give me free membership to your site and everything will be squared away :)

Sorry to throw a monkey wrench into the mix, but I am 5'4" and ~300, and there are NO jeans, or pants or that matter, at Lane Bryant that will fit me. I've found Lane Bryant to be much better for apple shaped women.
The store whose jeans fit me the best is Silhouttes. They are not cheap and do not have physical stores.
Next best fit is Just My Size, available online or at Wal Mart.
I have not tried Avenue, but will based on Tina's recommendation!

What you should do is send her a gift certificate if you can't be there in person to take her girl clothes shopping :) Take her out for lunch, a nice shopping date, and ice cream after. Moms dig that kinda thing :)

I'm with you Lord. Whatever you say.... :D
Kelley, you really must try the Avenue's stretch denim jeans, because you will love them. They're the closest thing to Levis a fat girl can find, but they're even better because the stretch makes them so comfy and more form-fitting. I bought two pair and keep thinking I should buy more.

I vote for Avenue. I'm 5'4 300+ with whopping ass and thighs, and their size 28 "real" jeans fit me perfect...even in the waist. Also they have some very nice bootcut jeans this year, the greatest fat gal thongs (sorry), and lots of othe great stuff if Mom decides jeans just aren't for her. Good luck!
