WOW. I did some testing today, and I felt like I was on MythBusters! I repped people way ahead of myself. It was like... I'M A POINTS CATAPULT, launching board members to STARDOM!

Sorry if I didn't get to you today. I'll do more spreading around tomorrow on just general principles. It's all about the love, I tell you...

You are the Santa Claus of Rep points!! Ho Ho Ho! Yo Yo Yo! :) I can finally change that lovely little "Senior Member" thingy to something wicked kewl! This is also boosting my community involvement..I am feeling a need to spread my few paltrey rep points around here and there...oh it is a community builder! The love is awesome, dude!
PS...about that nasty business on the "Create-a-rumor" thread...well...I am on a large dose of a mood stabilizer and sometimes I get a bit fuzzy....oooooh there is another true thing! I can't create a rumor if I TRY! LOL

Guess I don't understand the rep points thing. Can someone 'splain?

Also, what does it mean when there's a green box next to some points that someone has given you vs. a gray box? And how does one know how many points a person has given you (as someone mentioned in another thread that someone gave them x amount of points -- I was wondering how they knew). I have 21 points, whatever that means.

Check your User CP. If you knew what you had before you got repped, you can figure out how much the rep just boosted you.

Merry Christmas, by the way.

OK, gave out all my rep for the day. I'll have more on tap for tomorrow.

Keep posting, keep spreading the love, and let's get more folks with custom titles on the board. They're so much more fun than "Senior Member".

my question is this: how does one go about changing the title? the actual doing of the thing?

Go to User CP
Click on "Edit Profile"
Should be the box at the top of the page, says, "Custom User Title" just above it.

I'm still a senior member, don't make me have a temper tantrum. Come on people, I'm writing out lesson plans and a case study, so you know this rep points thing is a distraction from all the looming papers and tests!

Are you saying you want more or that you don't want more or that you'd like more, but you can already change your title, so you don't need any more?

Current listening: "Rock and Roll Queen" - Mott the Hoople. I know that goes with my last avatar, but it's still a great song.

Yeah. I've got the same problem. Not enough reputation points. I guess I just don't rate here. If anyone would be kind enough to give me some rep points so that I could change mine, I'd appreciate it. I'll help anyone who asks me as well.

I noticed that about a week ago, that my rep given really changed a person's rep rank considerably.

I guess the more you have, the more rep your rep has, etc.

Makes sense!

Wow, you can give people more points than I have in one shot.

Maybe its using a multiplier by posts or current rep?

While my personal rep hasn't gone up hugely, my posts have. Divide my posts by 100, and one sees how that could correlate to a 13-point increase.

Cindy, Toodles, and Lurking: you three are next on my list. Then Totmacher. Laidies first.

And Cindy gets her rep for posting pictures of the week for something like 3 or 4 years straight.

BTW, it's fun catapulting people past me. You guys should try catapulting ME, too! I want the fun! Wheeee! Rep for everyone! In a MLM scheme!

It seems I was wrong. It's actually the amount of posts you have. Thx for the points everybody :D

Hi. I still can't figure out how the whole reputation points thing works. I went through the FAQs, and clicked on the link that says they explain it, but it comes up "forbidden."

Can somebody please write it up as a "Rep Points for Dummies" thing so maybe I can figure it out? I'm not really unintelligent, but this one has got me running in circles. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Betty

I have to make it a better habit of giving out reputation points each and every day. There are so many worthy posters in this community. I've just slacked at it and now just started doing that. *frowns* So now I'll try to give to each and everybody.

Hopefully we all can *give some rep points* day by day, if we remember to and think about it....since everyday day you only have a minumum to give out in a 24 hr period.

I wish that I could see my allowance beforehand....before my allowance is already spent, though *frowns*

Well, I'd like a boost in rep points so that I can be more of a giver. hehehe

REP POINTS EXPLAINED

WARNING- SPOILERS!!!

OK, you can grant rep equal to your posts divided by 100. If you got no posts, you can grant no rep. If you have several hundred posts, you can grant a few points. If you have over 1000, you're dropping more than 10 at a time. If you have over 1,000,000 posts, you can REALLY rep someone into heaven.

You spread the love by clicking the rep point link under the title and/or avatar of the person whom you wish to rep. It is a blue-white icon that is a set of scales, but may look like a kleenex, junkyard dog, damaged Rolls Royce. It's between the circle and the triangle, how about that?

Just click that image, and then a box pops up. Give a reason for your rep, because that's a nice thing to do. Then click the rep-giving button and feel the good karma.

Check your own rep in the "User CP". It'll be at the bottom, after PM notifications and updates on subscribed threads. You'll see the last 5 people who gave you rep and links to the posts they repped. You'll also see their comments. Feel free to reciprocate when you can.

You can also click on the Members List link and then click on "Reputation" to see who's got what for rep. I like to see who's not yet got a custom title: if that person is below someone with a custom title, and not above anyone in such a state, such a person needs more rep to get that title. That's my purpose in giving rep right now, sort of like a Bodhisattva, if you will.

Hope this helps...

I got to rep five people today, then got the hammer down on my goodwill.

More love to share on the morrow...
