I could not have gotten sick at a worse time!....finals, papers, you know; college...Does anybody have any good remedies for winter sickness? or know of any really helpful cold medicine recommendations?

Or if nothing else will someone just like trade bodies with me for two weeks?, you can take mine, and I'll take yours, then we can exchange back when finals are over or my body gets better...whatever comes first ;)

Untreated, a cold will run its course in about a week. But, with treatment, you can have it gone in seven days flat.

or how about some information that WILL help...
(goddammit, fatlane...)

seriously, though, lots of vitamin C. i think that'll help. it always helps me when im getting sick. hawaiian punch, apple juice, juicy juice, gatorade, all that shiznit.

it should be gone in about seven days. but if you pass up the Vitamin C, then it'll probably take about a week.

Lots of fluids.
Hummidity
Vitamin C. Like, grams of the stuff. If you can drink enough orange juice to get that much into your system please send me vids, K? ;)
Echinacea extract.

There isn't much you can do to get rid of a cold, but you can take some pretty nasty stuff that'll make you forget you have one so you can carry on with your life. I reccomend Dayquill and whatever antihistamines work for you.

I swear by Emergen-C vitamins, taken daily, and Airborne. Both help the immune system, though moreso the Airbone when taken prophylactically and at the very start of a cold. Still helps, though.

Forigive if the spelling is off.... the new zinc treatments have helped me during business trips and big meetings. Some are nasal deliveries, and other are zinc "drops" that are like cough drops. hope it helps

In addition to the above remedies also try two ancient Thai Buddhist ones: no milk products for the duration of the cold; and wash out your mouth with Listerine three or four times a day. The monks and I usually can keep colds to 3 days or less with that...best of luck!

echineca and goldenseal can help ward off colds and boost your immune system. But don't take every day otherwise they lose their efficacy.

Tea with honey is great for a sore throat. Get whatever rest you can, and pump those fluids. It is a tough time to be sick. Hope you feel better soon.

Oh yeah. Listerine. Damn good stuff for killing germs in the mouth. Use it!

The venerable Irish cold remedy: A double shot've whisky. I personally like Jamie's. It kills germs, soothes your throat, and might even make you feel all warm inside or help you sleep.

Go to a Dr. and ask for a Z-pack!! My Doc also gives me Nasonex. That stuff will clear out your sinus cavities very fast. Above all, homemade chicken soup. I make a "double chicken soup." I pull out a very large soup pot and add 10 lbs. of chicken legs, an entire package of fresh chopped celery and 4 or 5 large chopped vedalia or Maya onions. Also, chop up an entire bulb of fresh garlic. 2-3 tablespoons Bell's Poultry Seasoning will also give the soup a lovely flavor. Fill the pot with water almost 4" from the top. Add salt and pepper--not lots because the liquid will reduce and it may end up extremely salty. Cook this stuff for about 3-4 hours (simmer). After this, remove all of the chicken and bones, it should be pretty overcooked and stringy, and drain it in a colander with a pot under it to capture the liquid. Throw away the bones and stringy chicken. With a large wire strainer, strain the soup into another large pot. This will leave you with the concentrated chicken broth. You can leave it in the refrigerator over night (it will gel) or you can return it to the stove and bring it back to a simmer. Take about 5-6 lbs of boneless chicken breasts and cut them into bite sized pieces. Add the chicken to the simmering concentrated broth and then turn up the heat. Once it starts to boil return to a mild simmer. Take a big bag of wide egg-free noodles (extra wide) and cook them per package instructions. Drain and add to the soup. This will be a lot of soup! But, you may need to share it with some folks you may have infected along the way.:eat1: :eat1: :eat1:

Take some Zicam, that's the correct spelling. It's homeopathic and will cut the time it takes to get over the cold in about a third of the usual time. It's available in any drug store.
