We all have them.... some of more than one, but what is the the one that absolutely does it for you????
I'd have to say mine is donuts/cinnamon rolls..... give me a great big cinnamon roll with maple icing and I'm down for the count.....
Second.... pasta......
Third.... potato chips and dip
All of the above with an ice-cold can of Coca Cola......
mmmmmmmmm.......................... :eat1: :eat2: :wubu:

Comfort meals:
shrimp ramen boiled super soft with a touch of cayenne
Tony's frozen pizza, cooked just so it's warm and the cheese is melty, not browned.
my mom's Thai peanut noodles
ETA: I totally forgot Lipton's fetticini alfredo pasta mix!
Comfort snacks:
kettle chips
cheesecake
And I'll take regular Dr. Pepper for a drink.

Violet, welcome to the boards!
We've had a couple of comfort food threads, but there are new folks to contribute to the topic and it's a good time of year to be thinking about (and eating!) comfort foods.
Here are a couple of links if you want to see the older threads:

Foodees need all the comfort we can get. :)
Spaghetti is my all time fav. :)

Usually it is biscuits and gravy, but right now, I would vote for huge buttermilk pancakes, lots of butter, lots of syrup, sausage and eggs over easy.

Hands down - homemade chicken and dumplings.

Ice cream, hands down.
One summer, after an unexpected and very difficult breakup with a longtime boyfriend, ice cream was the only thing that didn't make me want to throw up.
Alas, I didn't do what most women do and take this as a "positive" and run with it into weight loss and subsequent throwing of my new body into said ex's face. Instead I ended up gaining about 50 lbs. <shrugs> Maybe, with him being an FA, that *was* the fat girl equivalent of an f-you diet. :)

I would have to say Roasted chicken with all the fixings. I also like fanks and beans... and yes my big comfort "snack" ice cream, cheetos, and grape soda

Soup. Of any kind. I could have soup every day and not get tired of it.

Depends, if I am sick and feeling icky, it is 7up and chicken noodle soup with the little noodles (the soup that comes in the packet). Sometimes when I am feeling really icky, a nice big pepperoni pizza with extra cheese and extra sauce will do it.
If I am feeling just eh, then a bag of nacho cheese doritos and a block of chream cheese will do the trick :D

It would have to be food/drinks I don't mind having in stock, but not necessarily comfort, but hearing them makes me happy :P.
Chinese food and Coke are those two. Also Entemann's chocolate frosted donuts or Dunkin Donut's chocolate donuts :eat2:. Baked Lays are also good to have around.

chocolate pudding, the kind that you cook on the stove, my mother always made it for us, I think the brand was called My-T-Fine or something like that but I remember her standing by the stove constantly stirring and when I got a little older, she let me do it. Now I nuke it because I'm lazy but it still tastes the same to me......:eat1:
omg My-T-Fine!
I got a catalogue that had it, but I can't find it on their site now. Here's the site, though:

Ooooo.......My-T-Fine, yes!
I don't think I've had that in about 35 years.
After a certain year my mom stopped STIRRING all instant stuff, or at least would only stir it partially and would freak if I or my sisters tried to intervene. So things like pudding and instant potatoes would all have bursts of um, dry powder. :( (RIP, Mom.)

No doubt about it. Lasagna!
The many layers encapsulate life itself: sometimes savory, sometimes saucy, sometimes cheesy, but always chock full of rich fulfillment.

lol I didn't even consider that my boiled eggs and toast was British! I'm so glad someone appreciates the dubious delights of British cuisine!

Growing up in Savannah, GA....every food we ate is considered a comfort food. I wanted to share my comfort meal with everyone, its what my mama makes when I go home to visit my parents. Country fried steak with sawmill gravy, deep dish macaroni and cheese, collard greens with hambones, with yeast rolls and sweet tea. That is comfort food, then again I just call it home cookin' :)

I just put it in the crock pot :D
Pot roast dry rubbed 24 hours before in cumin, garlic, salt, pepper and tobasco, seared to perfection in a cast iron skillet, then seared onions, and deglazed pan juices from red wine. Add carrots and potatoes, cook on low alllll day long :)

My current craving because I am crooped up and need some edible comfort:
Oatmeal with lots of butter and brown sugar with a piece of toast dipped into the gooey goodness.
A really close second is white rice, lots of butter and lots of sugar.
In no particular order...
meatloaf with mashed potatoes and gravy. any kind of meat with gravy of some sort and mashed taters, really, but meatloaf is tops.
oatmeal with dark and light brown sugars, honey and half & half
brown sugar and maple syrup flavored Cream of Wheat
tomato soup (my fave is Trader Joe's Red Pepper and Tomato soup) and a lovely grilled cheese sammich, gooey on the inside and a bit crispy on the outside
the family recipe for lasagne
ice cream
pop tarts
hot chocolate with lots of whipped cream, and if it's homemade, vanilla ice cream, too
homemade soup of almost any kind
home-baked bread, hot and slathered with butter
cake
a good milkshake
macaroni and cheese, preferably homemade and with buttered bread crumbs on top
jello
cinammon sugar toast
