How would you send a money order to them? From what I understand, England no longer accepts International Money Orders. This may make it hard for me to order from them...

I assume they'll take credit cards - maybe even paypal. It's really the only way to deal with a fluctuating exchange rate.

Thanks for the info. I hope they take US credit cards. With my luck I won't be able to afford the stuf. But I have too many clothes anyway lol...

Yeah, the exchange rate is going to kill us, to say nothing of the shipping costs.

And just my luck - they have nothing I want right now. Why couldn't they have made this decision months ago when there was about 10 items I couldn't live without?

I suspect my husband has influenced them... in order to save our bank account, lol.

This is very good news, if only our US stores would get on board to help out the fat girls in the UK.

:) I grew up through my teens and twenties wearing Evans as at that time it was the -only- shop in the entire UK offering plus sizes. (Yes, honestly, one brand with about 20 shops to serve the entire country!)

The situation here is much improved but I have to admit I'm reading this thread in utter smiling astonishment! When I search out clothing shops online I see so many amazing suppliers in the US - and all the time there was you folks lusting after Evans and feeling deprived. I never knew when I was well off!

PS - Hello folks! I've been MIA for months now but I'm hoping to be popping my head round the door again a bit more often. BeaBea is still growing and we're getting into Wedding season in the Studio which is getting a bit hectic. I've also moved house into an adorable Victorian stone cottage but apart from that I've no real news. Feel free to fill me in with any scandalous gossip I might have missed - and if it's been quiet (which I doubt) just make it up :)

Are there ANY shops in the UK that go to size 32 apart from Evans? I can't find one. Although now Im more like 34/36 I can't find ANY clothes shops here to fit me. I rely on a few items from one catalogue, and hysterically looking through Ebay.

My sister and niece were horrified when H&M stopped their plus size clothes after having them for a couple of years. My niece is 21 and a very trendy 24/26. I also know another UK high street shop did plus sizes and have stopped too. I actually thought the situation had got worse here rather than better. I realise that more shops are creeping up to say size 20 though. I remember the days when every shop sold only size 10, 12 and 14, and rarely a shop would sell size 8 (Miss Selfridge did). Evans existed then as an "outsize" shop for older women who could only buy crimplene tents there, ugh.

I have to say that I believe Evans hold fat women to ransom, as they have the monopoly here. A lot of their clothes are not that great quality, yet none of their clothes are cheaply priced. They're also guilty of having loads of size 16s, 18s etc but hardly ever seemed to have a 32. My ssbbw size 34 friend Lorna actually stocks up on clothes every time she goes to the US. Im wearing at this moment a purple top that I emotionally blackmailed off her back lol. The US prices are fantastically cheap compared to ours, and were even before the crazy dollar/pound situation.

I hope the American women enjoy being able to get Evans clothes as some are nice, but imagine having ONLY Evans to shop from, bleugh.

Whine over, normal service is resumed

Thankyou AnnMarie!! I had a virtual battle with Ulla Popken last January, as I wanted several items from the US site. They told me I had to use the European site. That site only went to size 24 (WHY???) and had completely different clothes, none of which I liked. After about eight emails they very grudginly agreed to ship me ONE order and warned that shipping would likely be prohibitive. It was all academic by then as every one of the items I had coveted, were sold out by then, grrrr.

I emailed Big Girl Gear last year to ask if they would ship internationally, as I couldn't see it on their site, and I loved a top. I received the sweetest email from their representative, and on ordering the top, the shipping costs were negligible. What a different experience from the Ulla Popken one.

It's actually even very difficult to find clothes on Ebay in my size (US 34 approx), as it's always UK sellers that come up on searches. I would be grateful if anyone here could post me links to US Ebay vendors that do clothes in my size, as they are usually much more willing to ship internationally than big companies.

ps. Everyone remember that Evans goes up to UK 32, which is US 30.

The H&M where I live still do the plus range, so I think its only in selected stores which really sucks, the same with New Look the flagship store in central London goes up to a size 28 and my local one doesnt do a plus range at all:mad:

Awww. They are in Preston which is a city, so thats ridiculous that H&M took away the plus size section. Yes it was New Look that they used to get clothes from too, great because it was cheaper than Evans, but they got rid of their plus size section too. Its not fair.
