What has happened to chatters who disappear? I'm always curious.

Here are some old names I wonder about - they used to be in the chatroom pretty frequently about six or seven years ago and they then just sorta disappeared.

Ozzy's friend from Arizona who was a bud of mine too but whose nickname I can't remember - always chatted in the wee small hours of the morning at work.

Anyone know anything about these people? Do you have anyone you wonder about?

Good idea for a thread, Michelle. I've often wondered about some folks, too, although I can't think of any just right now...maybe loufa...

Cindy - YES, pabs - lakanookie - how could I forget THAT nickname? :p

Randi, last I knew AthenaGoddess had WLS and then a baby and was doing very well. I don't go into chat anymore either, obviously, as a few of the people I asked about are still there.

Sammie, you brought up several names I forgot all about and wonder about too. In fact, strangely enough, I was trying to remember Eyeminsane's nickname the other day. She just popped into my head for some reason. And of course, I wonder frequently about Carolyn and hope she's okay and doing fine. Wow - GrandAlto - hadn't thought of her in years. And Nikki and BuniFL (who was in IL last I knew). Then there was the young group ... there were three or four of them and were a lot of fun in chat but for the life of me, I can't remember their nicknames. There was also the girl who moved to Las Vegas and had a rough time, losing her mother way too young. Gosh, I sit here and think about it and more and more people come to mind.

Now I'm wondering about more people than I was! Maybe a few of them are lurking here and will reply.

Eyeminsane's real name (I think) is Casondra (sp?) - which she gave to her friends and mentioned in chat, so hopefully it's not a big deal to say it here. I hope she's doing well - she's a dear heart.

I think the 'moo' guy might be Zippy? He had associations with both Buni and Carolyn, and then sort of lost favor with everyone. Don't know what happened to him after that.

SunnyLaura - She's not exactly missing, but I always enjoyed chatting with her when she frequented the room years ago.

Rene-NL (now TX I think) - also not missing as far as I know, but no longer chatting either

Newf - Do you mean Neuf = Lance? If so, he married another chatter, Gayle, aka Rowdylady...whom he met in the Bulge chat room. They seem very happy together. They both still come in now and then.

AlaskanFA - Is he the one who married, then his wife died, and he's now raising the child they had together? I may be thinking of someone else, actually.

Eyeminsane - Cas is doing well, as far as I know. She's on my MySpace, and I touch base with her now and then. I don't want to give out too much info, though, without her permission.

Mellie - She's back in CA, living with her mom.

Bigmamathang - Allie graduated and last I knew (as of a few years ago) she had landed a great job and was living in CA also, totally immersed in her work.

There was also the girl who moved to Las Vegas and had a rough time, losing her mother way too young. - She used to seek me out from time to time. She was in CA for awhile, then had moved to the NY area last I knew. Many struggles for her....very heartbreaking. I haven't been able to reach her for several years now.

There was a woman who used to chat in the Bulge room who lived in Oklahoma, then moved to CA to be close to her kids. I can't remember her screen name, but I think her real name was Beverly. She was the first person to really befriend me.

Then there was the woman who posted as Stretchpants. She and I were close, but I lost touch with her, too. I miss her.

Snackgirl is still alive and kicking, but a) super busy with work these days, and b) just got kind of burned out on chat. She does drop by there very occasionally still, and once in a while I can drag an email out of her.

I wonder about a lot of those people as well. One that I've long wondered about went by two different names during the very early days of chat (I think when it was still on BBWQT, not sure if she ever migrated to Dimensions). I think one of the names she used was Saffron, I don't remember the other. She was from Omaha IIRC. She was the first person I spent a lot of time chatting with, back when it was still a challenge to find anyone in the chat room!

Others I wonder about include JerseryGirl, LaceyOne (maybe--it was lace something, I usually just called her Lace--was from Colorado I think), Scott (BigScott maybe? He was a married BHM), the young lady who was suffering from bouts of vertigo (I hope they cleared eventually! I think she was also from Colorado, but I forget her chat name), Candice (googling her name she may have had WLS, but I hope her ankle eventually healed properly, she was having so many problems with it), and a guy whose name I'm totally blanking on who was married to a BBW, lived in Florida, and was a hockey fan (Tampa Bay was his team, I think).

The Carolyn Owens thread got me curious, so I succumbed to google temptation...and I found this: http://www.serve.com/~owens/carolyn/calendar/ and thought I'd share here, in case others hadn't seen it.

To those who don't know, as a service to our community, Carolyn put together these photo calendars for several years, composed of pictures of people from the chat rooms. Unfortunately, the links to the 2000 calendars don't work now, but the 1999 and 2001 links are still active. I hope other old-timers enjoy seeing them again as much as I did. I saw some faces I hadn't thought of in a long time, as well as pictures of some who are still active. The 1999 calendar also serves as a small tribute to two whom we've lost, Biochick and Bodzilla.

TV is in the UK now, she moved over about 2 years ago now. We keep in touch when our emails aren't spitting out errors to each other. She's happy as a clam and recently passed her UK driver's test! The Brits better be on the lookout!

Here's one I can help with... He decided chat offered too many temptations that would lead him away from the closeness he sought with God. That's the short story... He told me he was leaving and never coming back. I never quite believed him, but sure enough he has been gone for at least a year and a half now.

Part of me respects his decision and his commitment to his spirituality, but there's part of me that feels he must have never really thought of me as a real friend if he could just disappear out of my life as he did... it makes me feel disposable. Maybe this is selfish thinking.

Ticky was so narrow minded in some areas... this got him into some trouble. A lot of our conversations involved me challenging his thinking and him telling me how having God in my life would bring me peace. We argued a lot, but ultimately shared a lot of laughter (including our fake chatroom romance when the room was swarming with couples hooking up and openly expressing their love in the room.. that was fun).

Then he was genuinely happy for me when I met and started dating Gottfried.

*sigh* I miss Ticky.

I used to talk with Dave a lot too on yahoo... I miss him as well, Laura. He kinda stopped talking with me when I started seeing my now ex-bf John. I wish he'd at least drop by and say hello from time to time.

TFG thank you so much for letting me know!! My story with him is similar to yours....He and I would disagree on many a subject but at heart he really was a good guy.I hope that wherever he is he has found some measure of happiness and peace because he deserves it.This is one of the things I dislike most about chatting..you think that you have developed some sort of "real" friendship with someone and then they vanish into the ether on you.

Hazy was on my yahoo list and appeared online one day a few months back. She told me she had had some strokes and was staying with her sister. Her typing wasnt very legible so she was clearly still having some trouble. I hope she is recovering.

Rooby..it is good to know that. I remember her as such a nice woman. I too hope things are improving for her. I remember her talking about going through her house, clearing out anything she would not want someone finding if something bad happened after a surgery she was going to be having. Was funny joking around about what the hell she might have..that she was so worried..;)

Me too. I did a /last on and her handle must have been purged from the system because it came up "no record exists". I'm nervous because for some reason I remember her being from the New Orleans area..but it might have been Florida?? In any case, I hope she is OK!

Hearing about the floods in the upper midwest/along the upper Mississippi the past few days, it put me in mind of doughie--she lives in Quincy, IL, I believe? I wonder how she's doing.

I happened to think about Doughie the other day, and was trying to recall which part of the mid-west she was in....I hope the floods didn't affect her! I also hope she's doing well, she was always one of the nicest and most gracious people whenever I dealt with her.

Ticky was so narrow minded in some areas... this got him into some trouble. A lot of our conversations involved me challenging his thinking and him telling me how having God in my life would bring me peace. We argued a lot, but ultimately shared a lot of laughter (including our fake chatroom romance when the room was swarming with couples hooking up and openly expressing their love in the room.. that was fun).

Then he was genuinely happy for me when I met and started dating Gottfried.

*sigh* I miss Ticky.

Roger is still in Michigan. Either working at a factory or got laid off again. I spoke to him about a month ago.

Bruce is back in California and is doing well. Learning lots of new languages through Rosetta Stone!

Luthien, I think was her name. Old Travis aka Tank, Casandra, Luthie and myself had some hella times in the wee hours of morning.

I can't recall...was it xJustinxfa or xJustinFAx the crazy one with the sideburns.... :D

Luthien is still about but not in Dimensions anymore. it seems she had a falling out and thought it best to stay out. I still talk with her from rare time to time and catch up still in the wee hours of the morning. she still can be contacted through her website. google it sometime.

pabs... last i knew he and his wife seperated and he met someone new. I have chatted with him for awhile since I can't get into chat anymore. not banned, white screen problems, lol
zippy... i used to talk with him alot. i think alot of his problems were do to being drunk most of the time.
netstalker... believe it or not was a nice guy, once you got to know him, he just liked getting people going to see what kind of come backs they would give him, I finally got him good enough that he couldn't think what else to say and that is how we became friends.
there are so many that i miss chatting with and some i don't care to chat with ever again.
i really miss the old chat room... there use to be people there 24hrs a day, what happened???

LMAO! Yams! No, sadly I won't be heading to Vegas this year. You'll have to save that drink for me. Chat is not the hoppin' joint it used to be but around 9:30 it tends to get a few more people. Mostly regulars...you know, the cool kids ;) I'm just glad you haven't faded into the internet void. Di-va let me know you were out there and doing fine. It is good to hear from you though.
