I leave that Sunday afternoon, so I could do anything on Saturday.. Biggies??.
If it's a really special event on the Sunday, I could always change my flight out of London an extra day so that I leave on Monday the 30th.
I'll be in London for about 8 days.

06-26-2007, 02:32 AM
What day are the tickets for? and how much? Could you get one for me?
I can pay you back either in cash on the day or by paypal.
Maybe all the tickets could be sent to someone's address rather than sending a ticket here and there.
(And I see Wimbledon is experiencing some rain... pull on the court covers.. heh)

Sasha,
I've been to England a couple of times, and I've gotta say that I had the BEST Pizza in my entire life there! That's one thing I wasn't expecting to have there, but it absolutely ROCKED. And if you're into Indian cuisine, I'd have to say it was near the top of my favs list, too. :-)
I can imagine what an awesome time you'll have, and that you've got some really cool local peeps there to show you around makes it even sweeter. :-)
Happy Travels!

Re: ticket delivery for "Sundae" - when will they be delivering tickets ordered? and what time of day?
My brother works pretty long hours and I don't think he'll necessary be at his place if I order a ticket to be sent to his place.
What happens if there is nobody there to sign for it?

I'm not sure ? I think the website stated it was vital an address was chosen where someone would be able to sign at any time of day... Have a word with Red... I'm getting ours sent over to hers as I'm travelling around during the delivery week on business (and to an airport to pick up a certain American).
I think its probably about time I started another meet thread here with all the details...
I'm still having a think about where to eat afterwards..?
I know clapham a little and theres a place or two I know that we could go... but its going to be rammed that day... so booking will be essential.

It's not a huge crisis. The Post Office will try to deliver but if no-one is in they'll put a card through your door saying when they tried and where it can be collected from. It's usually taken back to the local sorting office.
If you want them to re-deliver on a certain date the card will give you a website you can schedule the delivery on. You can also select to have it delivered to your local Post Office to collect if from there if thats easier.
Hope that helps

The only tickets left for saturday are held by the Independent Newspaper
and will be accesable throught their website as a special offer from
Monday morning. http://www.independent.co.uk/
Unfortunately Monday morning, UK time, I'll be at 30,000 ft flying the friendly skies to the US.

I have a concert on Thursday, September 6 at Royal Albert Hall at 7:00 p.m. London is the last stop on the tour through Europe for The Boston Symphony Orchestra and the plan for the orchestra and chorus is to breeze into London on the 5th, perform on the 6th and then head back to the states on the 7th. I'm extending my stay though and not going home till the 9th or 10th, still trying to work it all out at this time. I can't miss an opportunity to wear out my welcome at Tony and Annas, meet their wonderous dog and possibly some of you marvelous folks. :bounce:
The tentative plan is that they are coming to the concert with friends and we will possibly have dinner before the performance, drinks after. If anyone is up for part of that it would be fun for me, the more the merrier! (bear in mind, I hear tickets for the Berlioz program that I am in are almost sold out so act fast if you're interested in that leg) Otherwise, I will be there most of the weekend leaving just in time to miss Mike and Donni. :( I can't extend my stay because I start work on Sept. 11 so I have to be back to Massachusetts by then. These are the fuzzy plans as of now. I'll be daytripping in London too so if anyone is interested in doing that, all is good.

Red and I have been wanting to come and see you perform for ages. I'll check out the program and ticket availability/practicalities.
If that dosen't work, then we are both london mobile, and would love to meet up with you at some point.
all the best,

That's great Joe, I would love to see you two either way. :)
I really wanted to get over to Camden for some browsing. The last time I was there it rained to beat the band and wasn't such a good time so I'm hoping to give it a go again sometime that weekend if anyone is up for it.

Checked out the Sundae tickets selling on eBay...
There's a couple of people selling Sundae tickets for the Saturday.
I've added them to my Watch list.
They are selling them in pairs.
If I manage to get a winning bid, does anyone else needing a ticket wanna share the cost with me?

Good stuff, there is also a pretty Italian restaurant at the top of town, all fairy lights and waiters with 'taches n' stuff. Stooooooooopid plastic garden chairs outside though so I would recommend a table inside. Can't remember the name but I remember eating a gorgeous meal there a few months ago so make sure James takes you there too! ;)
My daddio rang me earlier and all 4 B&J tickets have been recieved and signed for and are safe and sound ready for me to pick up.
Any news on Mango and the search for tickets on Ebay?, we may have to sneak him in!

Hope you enjoy your time here!!
Glad you made it over safely hun'. What time/where shall we all do dinner? We can't make it to the party but we are up for a meal somewhere nice. Shall we move on somewhere different or stick around Clapham and find somewhere nice?

Update #1: I'm now officially in London town!! :D
Here until Sunday July 29th.
Update #2: I ended up buying a pair of tickets to the Sundae festival for Sat 28th July. SO I"M GOING TO SUNDAE ON SATURDAY!!:D
It cost me over 40 quid so unless we have someone lined up willing to pay 23 quid (half of what I paid from my paypal account) for the second ticket I have, I'll be selling the 2nd ticket on eBay this week.
If anyone wants to meet and catch up, send me a PM.
I might be doing afew things with family this week but I can 'squeeze in' a meet up. Next week my timetable is 'wide open'.
I have my cell phone with me.

I seem to have missed this thread in time to be part of all the festivities... that'll teach me from not checking the boards enough! :) But, just thought I'd say if any Dimmers are going to be anywhere near Wales on Tuesday (24th) my band is playing it's last ever show. Which means I'll be all sad and stuff, so seeing some pretty BBW or fellow FAs in the audience would cheer me up ;)
Of course, I doubt very much that any of you will be anywhere near Cardiff then because... if I was an American visiting the UK I definitely wouldn't be! lol But thought it worth a try... ;)
Anyway, I hope everyone has fun on their trips!

Oh, sorry, I didn't make that very clear did I... lol. What I should have said is that I'm too late to join in because I already have plans that weekend now. I'm actually moving out of my flat, so it's not something I can get out of unfortunately.
But, it's ok, my own fault for not checking the boards enough :)

Aww hun' thats a pain in the bum. Next time we should all meet somewhere a bit more central, or at least a bit further North than the Watford Gap! x
Hello boys and girls, I was wondering if we should do a roll call on who's going to what. Joe and I are around for the B&J festival and dinner afterwards, but we can't make it to the BBW party. Who is coming to the dinner? I'm not too sure if anywhere has been finalised yet as I think James was looking into where the best place to eat was around there.
I can't wait to meet eveyone, will be lovely to finally meet some more people from Dims.
So yeah, stick your name down for the roll call. Are you coming to the festival, the dinner, the BBW party or even all three? (If you are, what a raver I salute you!) :D

Hey Folks,
I'll be in London on Friday night as I'm doing a preview of lingerie at a Plus Sized Fashion Show in a venue two mins walk from Bond St tube down South Molton Lane. Theres various shops and brands doing catwalk shows and the whole things being filmed for ITV so there will be some Celebs there and its (apparently) going to be quite a glitzy occasion.
Tickets are free but they're very limited. I can probably scare a few up if anyone is game though? It runs from 7:30pm until 11pm and although I'll be working I'd love to see any of you there and share a quick chat.
Oh theres one more thing - it's got a FREE BAR! :)
If you'd like to go drop me a PM and I'll call them tomorrow and see how many tickets I can get. Please please please dont ask if you've not certain you can attend though or I'll get told off!

Hey Biggies' people,
Just to get this out, I won't be in London this weekend. I had the plans, but don't make it. I need to take more time for myself to find things out about a trip and Biggies of course. I couldn't get myself to it; Feels like I definately needed this vacation, because my sence is totally gone, lol. So is my money, since my pc broke down a few months ago... I will go on a little vacation in my own area this year;-)
Besides this, The Netherlands have a VERY active SA-Community nowadays (http://www.b-b-w.nl/ and http://www.createforum.com/curseofcurves/), with a BBW party every six weeks and other meetings as well. I feel like I spend much more time on these two new dutch forums than I do on Dimensions lately. I believe the dutch forums are more important to me nowadays. The contact with you UK guys and ladies isn't too close in my eyes, wich makes me feel a bit of an outsider (no offence to you, it's my own fault, lol). I only got back on dim chat yesterday evening after a long while!
I talked about Biggies on http://www.b-b-w.nl/ and maybe some of us will visit Biggies another time. Must be more fun to do this with other people, instead of alone.
I hope I don't make you guys feel sad that I didn't travel to London this time. I would really love to meet you all, and I believe that Sasha misses me:(
So, hugs to all, I like you all:bow: :batting:
Yours,

Myabe its a west coast thing, but practically everywhere I go you can get free refills on pop, (real) lemonade, iced tea. Beer and alcoholic drinks obviously you pay for more, but sody costs so little. Plus I think since our portions are so much bigger than the Uk we have to have more soda to wash it all down it.
What is Lemonade in the USA? How is it different to ours?Lemonade here is, if your going to do it true to the name and not with some powered shit, is squeezed lemon juice, water, and sugar. Add some raspberries or strawberries to it. Mmmmm, summertime delight.

So you would not call sprite or 7-up lemonade?
LillyBBBW
09-11-2007, 03:04 PM
So you would not call sprite or 7-up lemonade?
No, we just call it Sprite or 7-Up. Lemonade is as Sasha said or you can buy it in a powdered mix variety: just add some to water, stir, chill and serve. It is common for most restaurants here to offer free refills on soda and sometimes lemonade. The drink itself costs the restaurants almost nothing, it's the cup that really dictates the price of the drink. One restaurant started offering free refills and soon all the others followed to stay competative.
Fruit juice however DOES cost the restaurant which is why they don't offer free refills on it. Restaurants here also always serve ice water to all customers as soon as they sit down wether they drink it or not and they routinely come by and fill your water glass as soon as it gets low and it's all free. I notice all over Europe you gotta ask for water if you want it and it always comes with 'gas' (carbonation) unless you specifically request still water, and it's NEVER free and never has ice. Nitpicky differences really, I had a lovely time all around.

Actually Lilly I think they DO serve free ice water here. When I've been out to eat at the casino they do serve you ice water as soon as you get to the table, I don't know if it's included in the bill.. I hope it is! I have had free ice water at a club before when I've had a little too much to drink and I'm not willing to pay £3 (about $7) for a bottle of water.
I see why refills are a big thing in America. I'd probably be willing to pay double for my soda if I knew I was going to have free refills. I probably wouldn't drink much of it but I sure as shit would pay more.
As for lemonaid. I believe here there are two types. There is the fizzy sprite/sevenup type stuff and there is (original) cloudy lemonaid.. Cloudy lemonaid is like a whitey coloured water that is very lemony/nice and a bit fizzy. I'm not sure if it's the same as the US. But you know, if anyone wants to do a swap to learn all different types of stuff then I'd be up for it :D :D

I did actually have lemonade when I was flying out of Heathrow. Tony, Anna and I ate breakfast at some place called Ponti and they had tall thin glasses of yellow lemonade and pink lemonade. I also saw a Jamaican food stand in Camden Market that had a huge lemonade dispenser with the yellow stuff inside though I didn't buy any so I don't know how it was. The lemonade I had at Heathrow was yummy and the fizzy 7-up kind was good too though it wasn't what I was expecting.
I'm up for some blind taste testing next time I come around, granted there's a dance that weekend. It's impossible to get any of you Brits to come out of the house unless there's a dance or a fire. :D

You think they're stingy about drinks? How about Ice? Ice in the UK is like gold. When I was there they had an enormous heat wave. It was in the 90's (F) every day for 2 weeks. You'd order a drink and they'd give you 2 sickly looking ice cubes which would melt just by looking at them too long. What you'd end up with is a warm drink that was a little watered down. Then I found and ice maker at our hotel and like Daffy Duck I became a greedy 'ice' miser. Of course even with the heat there's nothing better then a Crunchy Bar and the Ice Cream in the UK is very special.

Odd you mention about ice in drinks ... as myself and a group of friends were out and commenting how you have to PLEAD with staff in bars and restaurants NOT to fill your drink up with so much bloody ice it could compete against the Tiatanic iceburg..there is NO need to have a glass completely full of ice unless you are an ice freak or enjoy your drink watered down..?
Conversly 2 poxy lumps of ice in your drink is worth feck all .. but over a heatwave season in the UK I think it would be fairly normal due to the customer demand..perhaps we Brits need to get more ice machines and free drinks for our visitors?!!

When you get a glass full of ice you get shorted on the actual drink! In all bars and restaurants they are chilled automatically. I usually like two cubes of ice, something to hear in the glass, but not enough to dilute the drink completely.

Yes but when you get all the refills you wish, as you do in the US, ice is a very very nice thing and the more ice you have the longer it takes to melt and water down your drink. I miss ice sooo much. Thankfully we do not eat out very much and we buy 2 bags of ice a week from Tesco, lol.

The annoying thing is that coke and lemonade costs pennies to make. They could add a few pennies to the cost of a glass and offer free refills no problem. If they have a refill station, even better as you do not have to pay for waiting staff.

These days all the drinks come to the restaurant in syrup form, they just add water. The drink is worth only a pence or two. You would be hard pressed to drink eough of it to equal the money you paid for the initial drink, even without ice. Also what BBSSBBW said. When the refills are free the ice is merely a perk. Most of the drink dispensers add too much syrup in the mix anyway so the ice mellows it out quite nicely. I only hate loads of ice when I'm buying alcohol. I still want ice, just not filled to the brim so they can cheapskate on the liquor.
Here in New England there used to be this restaurant called The Road Kill Cafe. They made you get up and get your own refills if you wanted them and they'd hand you a cleaning towel if you made a mess. It was a fun little biker restaurant but they all closed down. :( So much for self service.
