PhillyFA:

loved those bloopers (along with the matches where the wrestlers blow the script and start to reveal the inner workoing of the business to the fans) - seems as if the Steiners were in more than a few misshaps. Now I remember seeing the match with Goldberg and Brett Hart. I think Goldberg screwed up a move and did a number on Brett.

Tony, I take it you were a fan of wrestling when you were a kid. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that Phil was too. It's funny, but when I was a kid, my friends would imitate wrestling. I however, never got into the actual wrestling act. I have never wanted to be a wrestler. I DID however, want to be a wrestling announcer. When my friends were pretending to be in the squared circle, I was the one calling the match, cause I was the one who knew the actual names of the moves. I always thought I would have made a great announcer...certainly better than Micheal Cole, or Tony Schiavone. And I don't see how everyone thinks gordon Sollie is the greatest announcer of all time. Jim Ross has certainly earned that title.

Whoa, where's the love for Abdullah?

Personally, I'm a Stan Stasiak fan, and feel things went downhill once the Grand Wizard was out of the game, but I digress...

If you're talking greatest wrestling announcer, I've got to go with Lance Russell.

I have always enjoyed wrestling (started watching it at age 12) and have gone through phases over the years between following the latest fueds and not watching it at all. I would have loved to have been a pro-wrestler. However, the athletes do live a hard life and with the exception of a few many are having hard times.

The greatest announcer- that will certianly open many debates. I guess the safe thing to do is go by a specific era. In the 1970s we had Vince MacMahon Jr. ( on WWOR TV Channel 9 on Saturday nights) and then Gordon Solie "Championship Wrestling From Florida" [UHF - Channel 41 on Tuesday nights]. With cable in the 1980s then I was able to see the other announcers that worked the NWA and then AWA matches.

Whoa, where's the love for Abdullah?

Poor Abdullah - no resepct from Kamala - doesn't he own a BBQ joint somewhere down south?

Personally, I'm a Stan Stasiak fan, and feel things went downhill once the Grand Wizard was out of the game, but I digress...

It's a shame that the Wizard passed away prior to the Wrestling explosion that would occur in the 1980s and of course Stan the Man Stasiak. They had to invoke the 'Pedro Morales' rule because of the problems poor Stan enocountered when he defeated Pedro for the WWWF title in 1973 in Philadelphia. Back then - the promoters would have the Championship match at the end of the card. Well poor Stan beats Pedro and he later leaving the arena to go home ( he runs into some of the rabid Pedro fans and he barely escapes them)... so.. if they ever change a Title - that match is usually placed towards the middle of the card.

If you're talking greatest wrestling announcer, I've got to go with Lance Russell.

Did Lance Russell work in the AWA?

LooooL great find Tony  http://209.213.117.18/main-mask/f69.gif
