You've tried and tried to make your friends see what is so great about the artist, band or song.
They turn in disgust and wonder aloud why they are your friend in the first place.
So, you keep it to yourself until you can keep it a secret no longer.
Fess up, y'all.
My musical guilty pleasure:
Group X (cause they are so stoopid, its funny)

Gallagher and Sheen. Somehow nobody does Vaudeville anymore.

The Young Adults: totally obscure, but funny as hell. They prove why it's not necessarily the talent that makes it to the top, just the ruthlessly promoted.
If you still have VHS, get a copy of (It's a) Complex World
Your emo friends will sneer in disgust at the sight of a rock band having fun and acting silly. You guys will probably love it.

I could go on but that's enough.
I'm enjoying a big slice of 80s cheese today.
To me, it's just summer and fun and memories and joy... :wubu:

Da Yoopers. Because they're funny...how can you not laugh at such classics like "I tink my beagle's gay" and "The couch that burps"
I also love Shakira.
Not going to elaborate.
Fastball's "The Way" one hit wonder that makes my head go side to side

It's a very non PC song (hence the reason you don't hear it on the radio anymore) but I really like Illegal Alien by Genesis.

I have three CDs that I like to play from time to time. Sandie doesn't understand why I ever bought them, and it surprises my co-workers when I play them in the office:
As Time Goes By - Jimmy Durante's Greatest Hits
I rediscovered how much I liked Durante's singing when they used his "Make Someone Happy" in "Sleepless in Seattle".
Herb Alpert & The Tijuana Brass - Classics Volume 1
Every time I put this in my CD player, my office sounds like an episode of The Dating Game - especially when I'm playing "Roses and Lollipops", which is what they played when Jim Lange revelaed which bachelor the bachelorette had chosen.
Bobby Vinton's Greatest Hits
All his big songs from 1962 to 1966, including "Blue Velvet" and "Just As Much As Ever". Reminds me of my childhood.
A bunch of songs where they bash the hell out of the drums and make a general nuisance (noisance?).
The Who - Cobwebs and Strange
Madness - On the Beat Pete
Metallica - Frantic
Dogs Die in Hot Cars - I Love You Cause I Have To
XTC - Neon Shuffle (a real classic!)
Beatles - Helter Skelter ("I've got blisters on my fingers!!!")
I also love singing along to the stupid songs on the Doors' "Full Circle", except for that last awful track (see other thread).
like
"Go tell your daddy that we need some dough
We're gonna get married down in Mexico..."
or
"I'm gonna hang around your neck just like a verdilac
Take you for a ride in my... Cadillac"
or
the cacophony at the end of "Good Rockin'"
"mstomastoerooewamsoostubuwambo--RAH!"
or
"No me moleste mosquito
Just let me eat my burrito..."

I still listen to that one Jane... couldn't rep you again, I'll catch you next time around.
Here's mine:
Every song on "The Great Rock and Roll Swindle" video, even Sid Vicious's rendition of "My Way"and "Who Killed Bambi" A must listen (and watch) for anybody who knows (or wants to know) anything about old school punk. Once upon a time, it was the only video of the Sex Pistols you could get.

Another guilty pleasure of mine is to listen to the CD sound track from "Oh Brother Where Art Thou". I enjoy listing to the chain gang song when traffic grinds to a halt... it's strait out of a simpler time.

I can't blame you, Stan. Some of the best reditions of that genre I've heard in a long time.

all together now!
We’ve been on the run
Driving in the sun
Looking out for #1
California here we come
Right back where we started from
Hustlers grab your guns
Your shadow weighs a ton
Driving down the 101
California here we come
Right back where we started from
Californiaaaaaaaaaaa,
Californiaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa,
Here we COOOOOOOME!
we all know it's terrible and cheesy and probably written as an "I miss you when i am on tour, my girlfriend (nicole richie)" anthem, and that it's the goddamn theme song for the OC, but whatever.
i defy you to not sing along when it's on the radio and you're alone somewhere.
i just downloaded and i don't even care how many of my neighbors hear me play it three times in a row.
really it comes down to four words:
max fisher on drums. (http://youtube.com/watch?v=oNRs0RM3EEE)
