allegedly b/c the decision wasn't made 'til they were at the ranch, yesterday. Most likely, to catch the news cycle, in hopes Bush'll catch a bounce.

oh, and clever--with an annoucement today, it'll die down by the time the sunday shows (meet the press, etc.) are on.

i hate that bush is getting so many bounces of late. i HATE politics (when my team isn't winning). :)

Either that or they've concluded that the internet has eliminated the effectiveness of the traditional "friday night news dump".
