Hey y'all,
As you may or may not remember,. a year or so ago, Lipmix and I went to a reading of a new play called FEEDER, to whit, we had some problems with the script and such and we discussed them with the author, and then they had hired Tony Bennett's daughter to perform in it (yeah, she's a skinny minny) so NOW, they've gone with another rewrite, another actress and they've added me as the host of the evening.
What does that entail? Well, I'll be there to discuss the play, the role of fetishism in feederism and we will discuss it over complimentary desserts and pastries before and after the show.

The show/reading/discussion is this Monday, April 7th @ 7pm. Further details in the link. See you there!

Sounds good Janie!

Australian Heat may make an appearance if I can convince Jamie to attend.

Is it a play or more like a monologue type thing?

Keep me posted.

cheers.

Thanks Ruby. As with any theatrical process, Plays goes through many rewrites and depends on the audiences input. I am not the author nor the director of the play, but I do work with these individuals in a professional level outside of this project. The director determined that it would serve the interests of the play if I was there as a special hostess for the event.
I will be honest in my experiences in discussing my personal experiences in this realm; that is all I can do. :batting:

Well, what did y'all think of the play?

I had dinner with the production team after the show and told them about some of the aspects of the play I found most apprehensive.

Anyone else have any thoughts about the ending?

The ending was just one problem with this play. I have issue with the characters. The playright makes an attempt to make these characters human, but his attempts fall short. I am not a feeder or a gainer, but I get it. The playright doesn't get it otherwise he wouldn't have portrayed the male feeder as psycho or off balance, and the female gainer as broken. Ultimately, these characters are cliches, and not real people. He puts their relationship in the context of BDSM, but clearly he doesn't understand the nature of that type of relationship either.

I thought this would have been much more interesting if he had written it from the perspective of an outsider looking in, rather than an insider looking out, at least in that way his characters would have been more human and less one dimensional. If he didn't understand it then he should have been honest with the audience about that. I think this was a subject that intrigued him in a morbid way and he thought, hey, I'm a writer, let me write about this....

So yeah, the ending seems unimportant given the problems with the rest of the play.

I would like to see a movie, or production, in the mass media in which it was a healthy relationship between someone that enjoyed gaining weight and a partner that supported, loved, and enjoyed the venture as well.

Perhaps... a story of self discovery? I don't know, if I was not a full time procrastinator, I'd write one myself.

I was meaning to post a review of this play - which I went to and saw with some other dimmers last week, but got sidetracked with work and then spent the weekend interstate.

I have to say the play "Feeder: A Love Story" was a huge disappointment.

I arrived late and missed the bulk of the playwriter's introduction.
In hindsight.. and more importantly - I missed Janie (The Obsteperous Ms.J) handing out the cannolis!

*** SPOILERS BELOW *** (heh)

In a nutshell, the play is another in a long line of sensationalist babble on the feeder/feedee theme (along the lines of the movie FEED). Feeder & Feedee fall in love, they describe their relationship as she grows. But the relationship takes a turn for the worse when a fictional TV talk show hosts calls Feedee and convinces her to get WLS. The relationship turns sour at this point and our Feeder now resorts to kidnapping, abduction, assault with a deadly weapon and ultimately torture by gluttony to exact his revenge on the TV host. Feedee suffers health problems and eventually passes away.

This was all relayed through story telling (not really acted out per se) in a series of monologues. The actors portray rather one dimensional characters as they read each and every line from their script sheets and the Feeder character is portrayed as some sort of dimwit psychopath. The whole play used minimal production and was overall, actually pretty boring considering the topic.

The writer did nothing to get into the crux of a true feeder/feedee relationship. Nor that of a real life feeder or feedee or even that of your every day fat girl. The only thing our feedee girl raves on about is her favourite flavour of ice cream.

They even go to the trouble of mentioning Dimensions as the site where these fictitious characters met. I wonder if they received Conrad's permission to use the name of our site (?).

The play ends (much to my relief) - and this was the point where I was hoping the writer/producer would field questions from the audience and perhaps Janie would share something (as was initially thought). I would have really thrown this guy afew curly questions - and I'm not even into feederism.

There's a reason this play had was free to attend and playing in some obscure West Side theatre. If people had to pay more than a dime to get in, you'd probably count the numbers in attendance on one hand.

I could've filled out the questionairre but I really wasn't in the mood.
And anyway.. all I could think about was cannolis!

apparently, not much changed since ms. j and i saw the actual play eons ago...

all i can say is:

I don't think any of us had a cannoli. The feedee was too small and not an apple shape. She just was.

I believe the actress was supposed to be playing a 703 lb feedee - albeit an apple shaped one.

Hey y'all.

I really wished the Dimmers present would have stayed and made their comments to the director and everyone involved. I was disappointed that everyone pretty much dissipated after the show ended. I spent alot of time discussing many of the topics that everyone has brought up in this thread. It still has a long way to go.

Mango, I owe you some cannolis, let me know when we can get together and share a dozen or so. :smitten:
