I am so there. I have an itchy trigger finger for calling the hotel. We call right? Also, do you know how many people they allow to sleep in each room? I was hopin' to pile as many of my girls in one room as possible to cut on costs. Does 4 people work with 2 double or queen size beds? Or are the rooms only for single size beds? Oh damn I am so excited! Expect tackling hugs from me everyone. ;)

Yeah, you can definitely do 2 to a bed, 2 beds (they have two queens I believe, but may be doubles... just can't recall). There are king rooms for those who want them as well.

I don't believe there's enough room in a double to add a cot, but you can ask when you call to book if it's something you're trying to do.

Wheee! After checking out the hotel this weekend, I'm even more excited to see everybody there!

I will be organizing a pre-weekend Friday night dinner again (probably at Bugaboo Creek). I'll post a thread to RSVP in once the details are set, but I wanted to give people a heads up for planning purposes.

I hate to say I'm coming again and not, but I'll just throw it out there anyways that I have tentative hopes of turning this into the east coast road trip/vacation that I've been hoping for myself for years. I have to do this on a shoestring budget, so if I can get in on a big room crash, that would be uber ideal. If I can cover lodging cheaply, I can afford gas and IT'S ON.

I'll also throw it out there that I might be willing to pick up folks along my way as sharing gas would also turn this from tentative to reality. My route would be thru canada, buffalo, albany on to MA OR the alt route would be thru ohio and part of PA (I think?).

There are no commuter rail stations in Burlington, the closest one would probably be Mishawum Station in Woburn. For cheap Asian eats near the hotel Lanna Thai Diner (http://www.lannathaidiner.com/) is the best bet, the food's great and it's in an old timey diner. Chinatown in Boston is excellent if you're going for good cheap food just wander around and you'll find a good bakery or Bánh mì place or just head directly to Cindy's Planet. Super 88 foodcourt in Packard's Corner is also decent, albeit a little crowded due to the proximity of BU.

I actually had a REALLY good time on the Duck Tour when I finally went on one 2 summers ago... really fun, the "guides" are real characters and they all cover different aspects of the city, weird facts, and there's nothing quite like plunging into the Charles River and then back out again.

I had a blast, I highly recommend it. :) Also, they have a policy of one person, one ticket, so if you need the entire bench, you get it. I fit there (barely) with a skinny guy, he was just off the side a little bit.

I just called as well and they still didnt have the rate for the Heavenly Body Bash. But they said I could make my reservation at the higher rate and call back and change the rate when its available. Very nice service I must say. SO Miranda call them and tell them your last name (hehe) and I have put a note on my reservation to get us connecting rooms! They will currently have a higher rate but we can call back later and get the lower rate. Sounds good?

You are just going to love shopping in Boston. There are lots of different places to shop there for big girls. Don't worry you will find clothes, just remember to go with a empty suitcase.

I just went to my first bash in NJ a couple weeks ago and even though I couldn't attend many events I met a lot of wonderful people. I'm sure you will do the same!! I'm looking forward to meeting more!!! I'm also from MI and have made the trip from MI through OH, PA to NJ PLENTY of times so I can give you some road tips and tricks if you need them.....surely to be included: 1.) great gas stops (how to avoid skeezy truckers) 2. fun road activities (i.e. how not to fall asleep driving what feels like 8 billion hours down I-80 through PA) and many many more!!!!

I'm not a programmer or in finance so the demand for my skills isnt from the kind of companies that pay for trans-atlantic re-location. I'm pretty much limited to Not For Profit jobs too due to visa restrictions... I'm not in a negotiating position unfortunately.

Boston proper does, but not where we'll be. There are tons of places to eat, but probably nothing that's a 3am haunt - sometimes Chinese or something, but most places are shut up by midnightish.

You should be able to get cheaper flights up this way from FL, did you try kayak to search all your options? Also, priceline is a consideration! :)

I would think you could hire one of those vans - shared airport shuttle vans. The kind where they wait to have enough people to fill it, divide the costs, take a route into the city. Only if you have enough people you could probably fill one yourself.

Just called the hotel because often they have contracts with shuttle vans to keep the cost lower, but this hotel does not (not super shocking, it's a bit further off the path than we were in Natick for New Years).

He told me that the hotel courtesy shuttle will bring people to Anderson Station, which is on the commuter rail that leaves out of North Station in Boston. So, you can get the shuttle from Anderson Station to the hotel, they just said it might be a little wait because it's a courtesy shuttle. (I think this is basically what Lilly posted somewhere, but here's a bit more specific info if you need it.)

If you need to get to Boston proper from Logan Airport so you can take the commuter rail I mentioned above, you can take the subway. Blue Line to Government Center, get off and change to the Green Line and get off at North Station. (here is the subway map (http://www.mbta.com/schedules_and_maps/subway/))

You'd then be taking the commuter rail I mentioned above - the Lowell Line to Anderson/Woburn. Here is the schedule from North Station, on the Lowell Line, to Anderson/Woburn.

The event is 79. That's just one night though, right? Do I need to pay for more? We'll be there for like three, right?
Transportation is probably going to be about 100.
And I think my tax return (260) should be enough for everything else.
I might add in that I'll need 200 for a new suit (We need formal gear, right?), camera stuff, and so forth. I don't really know yet. lol

You'll need money for admission to bash dances and meals. Not sure how much yet - Heather's working on it.

You absolutely do not need to wear a suit! We dress up for the NYE dance, but this is much lower-key. You'll want to look reasonably sharp (in a clean and well-pressed sort of way) for the dance, but the rest of the weekend is very casual.

THIS is a very good point that i forgot to bring up to you in our myspace message-exchanging, jon.

just in regards to jersey alone ... on any normal weekend here in ohio, i am THEE picture-taker for my group of friends. i mean, total, unapologetic camera whore. i was gearing up with a blank memory card and even DEBATING a new, pretty digital camera for the bash.

turns out i came home with a humble 30-somethin' pics, but still i have like, over a hundred from that weekend. case in point? we are ALL photo whores, and everyone does the job for you ... you'll be in a ton of pics, and as you can tell from the NJ pic post thread, everyone is absolutely wonderful about getting their pictures up (as well as the photobucket account) in a super-timely fashion.

For some, it might be a viable option-- I know that when I go to Boston I always use the T exclusively, but I do know my way around. That being said, I could post directions on how to get from Logan to North Station if people would like.

I think it's pretty viable if you're traveling light and you're fine with stamina/mobility. Government center is a pretty easy stop. Not sure how far the Logan stop is from the airport central, but I'm quite sure there's a shuttle or something that will take you - so that can't be a pain in the butt.

I just think if you're an easily tuckered out big girl, with a crap load of bags, it will be an exercise you'd want to skip if at all possible.

Just an idea... car rental can run as low as $17/day (if you have your own car insurance & are 25yo or older, the only additional costs are gas and tax) if 3 (or 4 if the ability to squeeze into a small car applies) people go in on a rental... you could have the car over the whole weekend, and cost less than a cab for 1 person round trip.

So...things are still REALLY up in the air for me on this, as it will most likely come down to this OR something else that's even more important to me (I know, how is that possible?! But it is.) But in case a miracle of some kind happens, I'm thinking of going ahead and booking a room for the nights I may want to stay, and then just canceling with the hotel if I end up not being able to go. I don't want to risk wanting to go and NOT being able to get a room in the hotel. Thoughts? Will this work? Would I be a horrible person for taking a room from someone who DEFINITELY knows they're going?
