...how many servings do you get out of a one-pound box of spaghetti? I KNOW it's not eight...but over time I found there was less and less left in the box until I found myself using the whole thing. For two people.
I mean, there was some left over, but not even a full serving. And if I didn't put it right in the fridge my husband would finish it by midnight. Should I feel guilty about this?

No one that I know only has the single serving as specified by the label. I probably put the equivalent of three or four servings on my plate at once. No, you shouldn't feel guilty about it. :)

And being perfectly honest, I'm a real pig when it comes to pasta. ;)

Well, if we're being honest here, I should admit that I sometimes have more than a half-cup of ice cream, too. :eat1:

Guilty here, but I'm not completely to blame. Its those serving sizes at Cold Stone Creamery. ;)

It depends on how hungry we are, but two sounds about right.
It always cracks me up when I see the "Serving Size" listed on the side of food packages. I wonder how many supermodels they're feeding....

I usually use at least 1 lb of pasta for me and my husband for dinner. I eat like 3-4 cups of cooked pasta for dinner and him about the same. I couldnt imagine having a serving size of pasta, i'd be pretty hungry all night.

For some reason that makes me think of a dish my cousin once made for us where she cooked spare ribs in a tomato sauce until the meat came off the bones then shredded it into the sauce and served it over macaroni...OMG I thought we were going to have to kidnap her and take her home with us LOL.
Maybe because I grew up with three brothers but I always liked guy food. It's a little embarassing to go out with your friends and be the one getting the full rack of ribs or the sausage pizza LOL.
But I turn into a girl again when it comes to dessert.

Well the last pasta I made I cooked the entire box and I ate a bowl that night and then next night. I had good sized container of it left so I took it to my night job were it's mostly college girls and they ate the hell out if it there were three of them so I got 5 servings a normal sized bowl full maybe a bowl and a half for some.
1 pound box of pasta is 4 servings for me as a main dish (I don't make side dishes. All my meals are 1 pot meals when using pasta). So it's 4 oz pasta, with chicken breast, sauce of some sort, and veggies. I find it very filling. But that's me.

Generally, if we're not having other sides...I use 2/3 of the box for my husband and I. If we're having other things too, 1/2 box. I can't imagine the one box serving 8, only for light eaters and as a side dish.

Let's ask Mr. Pat.
Mr. Pat, how many servings come in a one lb. box of spaghetti?
"Hmm, let's see, one, twooo, MMmmmmm..."
"Two servings in a one lb. box of spaghetti!"
