I had a good time, save for a few total weirdos. Who shall remain nameless, but whose initials are Boteroesque Babe and Egbert Souse.
But really, there was, I think, a sense I was going to be wary of people of whatever, and that wasn't the case at all. I didn't have any expectations of people, but if I had, they would've been surpassed. For anyone who worries that getting together in this way is somehow awkward, it really isn't (unless you somehow make it awkward yourself). I mean, aren't fat people jolly by their very nature? :)
And I even got an offer for a way home...which in retrospect, I should've taken. My bad!
So see? Lovely people, lovely food, and a lovely distraction during a weekend when I needed a distration more than I have in a very long time. Yay!
Hey Guys!!! I am so sorry I missed this luncheon, I totally mixed up my dates. I thought you were getting together next week. I felt so stupid when SoVerySoft :( pmed me saying I missed it. From the pictures it looks like everyone had a great time, I look forward to joining everyone next time, I can't wait to be drowning in a HUGE order of mashed potatoes. :eat1:

I never thought meeting new people would be bad at all! In fact, I think I'm the only person who wasn't all nerdlinger-esque about it. So put THAT in your pipes and smoke it, all! (ok, randi wasn't, either).

Jes, I am always nervous when it comes to meeting new people. I'll admit it. I'm trying to be less shy but after a lifetime of being a giant wallflower it isn't easy lol. So, if you were feeling even a teeny tiny bit nerdlinger-esque don't worry I was a HUGE nerdlinger!

why do people keep thinking i was feeling nerdlingeresque? Haven't i said i wasn't like 5 times. this is starting not to get funny and not just because i'm going to have my period (Hi, Vince!). Meeting people is something I do well. Looking hot is another.

Let me tell you what I think about Randi. if she were running for governor of NJ, I think I'd have to move back there (Yes I was born in the Garden State) just to vote for her. If Jersey was smart they'd rename themselves "the SoVerySoft State". I was called, "Nanny, Nanny with the big fat fanny" by a guy named Larry when I was a kid. He called me that until one day (as shy as I was) I turned around and called him "Larry, Larry the ugly gay fairy." Politically incorrect, I know but damn saying that brought me a lot of joy lol. :D

OK, my comments:
1. I agree 100% - the set-up was not conducive to mingling. Next time we will have "speed mingling" or musical chairs or something. GOTTA MINGLE PEOPLE! (I know - I didn't and I greatly regret it).

4. He warmed up to some more than others - sometime after she began round 2 (see below). lol. Refresh my memory - what was his pet name for BB?
5. There *were* leftovers but I noticed someone went for round 2 ;)
I never did eat mine (BBNancy got them all - lucky girl!) since I had dinner plans on Sunday then got a wicked 24 hour stomach flu on Monday! (OK, who'd I catch that from? LOL)

Hey, I had stopped eating. (Pretty much.) I made another sandwich out of my leftovers, and awaited foil. But the foil took too long.
As for the waiter's pet name for me, I believe he started with a quiet "Sweetie Pie," then grew bolder and more varied in his selections. He must've thought I was the one in charge of determining his tip. Or perhaps he wanted to make up for never having brought me my dern foil.
Still can't get that pastrami outta my head (though I realize this admission opens me up to all manner of "meathead" jokes). SUCH good stuff, it was.

He got a hefty tip for it, too.

Yeah, rub it in. Rub it in! Next time I come, I'm gonna make sure my pastrami partner in crime shows up! And then I'm gonna STUFF MY FACE.
I agree with Egb. The waiter WAS giving him the eye (I could see it from my vantage point across from you two).
