I've been using Mary Kay for 20 years now...they have come up with some really great products over the years.
I just got approached by somone about a new product it's called Arbon..has anyone ever used this.
What is your favorite skin care line/product?
My new passion is the micro derm abrasion system...I use it about once a week...which is probably to much since I have sensitive skin. But just having it here is a temptation!

I used Mary Kay for 24 years. I stopped for one reason. I can't find a freakin consultant to take care of me. I went through at least 8 in a couple of years out here and I even tried to find a Director in Colorado Springs to take care of me. I was told by all the Directors up there that they were "No longer taking on new customers" *What the F*CK?* I didn't know you could do that. I took care of my people when I sold it. Without the personalized service I can buy whatever I need at the drug store - ya know? I'm still pissed about this.
So now I am using an all natural skin care line I found in Kohls and I like it a lot.

Isn't that amazing...you and I both sold, breathed and lived MK for years...we know that turning down customers is a big no no....if Mary Kay was still alive she would just beat someone silly about this!
You know I'm sure that I have genes that are associated with me having good skin; but I'd like to think some of it is me taking care of it.
At 40 going on 41 still no wrinkles/laugh lines. Heck I was asked at the hospital if my mom was going to show up for my dad's surgery....I was like...ummm this is my husband and I'm over 40; but can I kiss you!:kiss2:

I use different things, but I really like ProActiv so I'm back on it now (used it over 5 years ago as well). I have trouble with anything I have to order to keep in house, I'm bad about that... so I'm inconsistent. I asked for it for Xmas, after not having used it for years, so I have two kits in house now... big help. When I'm out of it I'll often use Clinique (the three step system), but my hope is to stay on top the ordering this time around.
I don't have bad skin, just the usual little break outs on my chin or sides of nose, but I think ProActiv works great and I love the way it leaves my skin feeling.
I also got a charcoal pore mask from Origins that I love, but I haven't been using it as much as I should. As a gift I got their little at home microdermabrasion system, and I want to give that a whirl as well.
I don't much care about name brands and all that... I'm far more interested in what works for me and these are some of my favorites by far.

I have to agree about the name brands thing. Before MK I was a SNOB; I only used products that could be bought at Nordstroms. But you know I when I was right around 21 I started getting pimples and NOTHING was helping...tried MK and Whah LA skin cleared up and now I realize it has nothing to do with a name...it's what works for you and your life style.
My favorite thing to do is to put on one of the green masks...and walk out in my pj's when my 15 y/o has a sleep over and just chat with everyone like it's everyday I walk around looking like this. They have never once said anything to me....it's my own little physcological test on the pysches of pre-pubesent males....SNORT

I inherited really dry and sensitive skin from my Mum. Over the years we've both tried almost every brand and we've spent a fortune trying to find something that works. A friend recommended Palmers Cocoa Butter and now both of us cant live without it.
Palmers is the only thing that stops the skin on my face feeling dry and tight. I cover every inch of myself in it and its sorted out the dry skin on my heels and elbows as well as making me feel soft and smooth all over. Its really cheap, available in supermarkets and smells fantastic. I LOVE it!
(Sorry, I sound like an advert!)

I consider my skin to be one of my best features.....but it is ultra-sensitive to everything! I spash copious amounts of water on it, hydrate with Fruit of the Earth Aloe Vera Gel, and leave it alone. Once in a GREAT while I'll run a washcloth with Dove soap on it gently to exfolitate. And that's about it. I put on powder blush from Cover Girl and, other than lipstick, that's about it for me!

I am an Oil of Olay girl. I use the Daily Facial Cleansing Cloths in the morning and at night. I feel a lot of guilt using them because I think they are environmentally unfriendly, but if I have to depend on myself to remember to bring a washcloth and find my cleanser, I always fail. These are easy, smell so good, and work well.
I use OoO Active hydrating moisturizer in the morning and Ponds' deep moisture cream at night.
For the rest of my skin I use Lubriderm Advance Therapy or Cherry Blossom lotion from Bath and Body Works.

I love the Aveeno products for skin care.
I use the Ultra Calming Foaming Cleanser in the morning and the Balance Bar in the evenings to remove my make-up. The Ultra Calming Daily Moisturizer does double duty for me as an under make up and night cream. I break open a vitamin E capsule every other day and dab around my eyes and mouth to deal with the trouble spots there.
Other than that, I give myself a facial every ten to fifteen days and occaisionally treat myself to one at the salon.

I've been using Olay products since I was in my 20s. I used regular Oil of Olay, up until they came out with all the great new stuff the have in their line now. I am currently using Olay Thermal scrub, it is amazing. And for a moisturizer I use Olay Regenerist 7X. Great stuff!!

I really don't have time to do anything regularly. Pretty much just clean my face with whatever I got free with coupons. I have a huge stock of various types of face cleansers and moisturizers. Probably enough to last for years. Mostly Dove and things like that.

I am currently using Clarins line for maintenance. I am a product junkie and have tried alot of lines, because my skin over time, gets used to the product and I'll no longer see a result. I am a regular spa goer...I am always having something done. Glycolic facials, body mud wraps, ear candling, hot stone massage...you name it I've probably done it. I love the pampering experience, plus when I leave, I feel beautiful and at peace.
Other lines that I have tried that I like are Shiseido, ProActiv, Murad, MD Formulations (though it tends to dry the skin), Clinique, BORBA, Laszlo and Mario Badescu. The sad thing is that I am so particular about skin care so if I don't like something about the line that I've bought...I'll go hunting for another. This leaves me with trunks of products...and no face to put them on.

Okay so, you saw how bad my skin is today, but believe it or not it's much improved since a) surgery and b) Proactiv. I love that stuff. It's gentle to my sensitive skin, clears up my tendency toward cystic acne and plugged pores, and I can't say enough good things about it.
For make up (not like you saw any today) I use the Bare Escentuals powdered mineral foundation (bare minerals: http://www.bareescentuals.com/id/) that you get from infommercials. It doesn't clog my pores, feels like my face is "naked", and over time became easier to use; it also covers zits, scars, and spider veins amazingly well -- again, without feeling like you're wearing a mask. The problem I have now with it is that my daughter loves it and so we're fighting over it all the time. ;)

I mostly just leave mine alone, which I'll probably regret since that means I'm not good about moisturizing. When I do remember to slather something on, it's Oil of Olay.
The only thing I do regularly (like every other shower) is use a sensitive skin Buff-Puff (disinfected frequently) with a dab of Noxema. I'd prefer to use the Body Shop's Cucumber Cleansing Milk instead of Noxema, but they don't seem to carry it anymore :( Used that for years and loved it.
In summer I use witch hazel as an astringent as well.

Please tell me about ear candling...the how, the why and the the results afterwards.
As for spas...yep, I love them to...but since I used to be a make-up artist and other fashion addictive stuff I tend to do a lot of the stuff at home...exceptions would be hair, bikini waxes and massages.
So give me the details about this...sounds interesting

Ear candling is an ancient way of removing all types of debris from the ears that are thought to be related to sickness- allergy infections, ear infections, etc. It basically helps ward them off. It's more of a holistic approach I guess. Egyptians have been using this method for centuries- it was also thought to cleanse one's auras. Anyway, my estetician takes candles and gently inserts them into my ear (one at a time, it takes about 3 or 4 per ear) and then there's a weird suction and you can feel the junk being lifted out...I won't say it's painful- there's alot of pressure. I suffer from allergy probs and honestly, I don't get the clogged feeling or as much congestion as I did before. It's not for everyone- if you're interested I would check with your physician or personal care provider before doing this.

Redhead, if you're interested in ear candling, I have a local friend who does it. Oh, and thank you -- funny, I saw the same thing in you. :wubu:

Vickie...I swear we need to put on a cheerleading outfit and pickup the pom, poms! But yah...let me know who that is...I'd like to try it because of some ongoing mystery allergies.

I might be seeing her tonight, but if not I'll get in touch with her and see if it's okay to give you her number. Her dad's a local chiropractor and I think that's how she learned about it.
For allergies, the most success I've had is with naturopathic docs and holistic medicine. And I can recommend some people who I trust if you're interested in going that (potentially expensive since insurance coverage is spotty at best) route.

I really like Mary Kay. I've had a few consultants myself who've come and gone and getting the products became a hassle. Not only that but I was going though some severe financial difficulty and could no longer afford MK but it was the only thing my skin would tolerate or respond to.
A friend of mine became a MK consultant simply to get the discount. She is not aggressively selling the product. She just makes sure that she sells enough of it to keep within the confines of what MK finds acceptable. I didn't want to do that so I buy all my stuff off of ebay. Everyone says its a no no, MK doesn't condone the practice and I realize that the product may be old or expired. But I've had MK products that have lasted me a long long time with each treatment working just as great as the first so I don't believe in the whole 'expiration date' propaganda. If the stuff is so fragile then they should lower the price of it so that people can buy it more often and stop telling people "a little goes a long way" when really they're going to have to throw it out after a few months to replace. So... I buy from ebay and it has worked for me.
A lady at my church is thinking about selling Arbonne(sp?) products. She raves about this chemical peel that she used that turned her skin into porcelain the next day. She's going to let folks sample the stuff to see if anyone thinks they may be interested. I'm kinda hooked on MK but I may check it out.

The skin on my face is always super dry, and that annoys me greatly. At least I don't get pimples often. I like Clarins, but it's usually too expensive for me. Other than that, the thing I find that works best for dry skin (anywhere on your body, including your face) is plain old Johnson's Baby Lotion.

Redhead, I WOULD if I could. I have tried several times to bring photos from my documents over here, never with success. I am very far from being a whiz on a computer, but my husband tried to help me and he couldn't do it either. Could it be because we still have Windows Millenium, and it's too ancient to do the job? I don't know! I have one pic taken of me at Christmas that I would love to post here....still trying, not succeeding!

Carol...try this; there is a free site called photobucket (www.photobucket.com) just sign up for an album. down load your picture to that site then copy the URL tag from that site to here using the paperclip option above...then you should be able to post. Let me know if you need any further help....oh and before I forget, size your picture down to I think it's about 20 KB and aslo make sure it saves as a jpeg. Let me know if you need anything else.
