I caught a bit of it and turned. The show seemed to focus on being overweight and the health issues that come along with it. I did like the woman who was diabetic and mentioned so was several skinny members of her family. I've never watched this show before but whomever was the anchor was trying to make these beautiful fluffy women have issues with their weight. I watched it for about 3 minutes and decided it was bs.
Mimi Roth was telling the mothers that they were committing child abuse because their daughters believed they were beautiful despite not being thin.
Considering how terrible real child abuse is, I think people are abusing the term these days.

Are you serious? So its better to have a child with self esteem issues than one that is fluffy? Geez let kids be kids.

I saw a few minutes of it and gave a good  eyeroll and flipped. I never find any size or at least positive size related talk on any of those shows no matter what the topic. I just had Fox on because I have thing for Ines Rosales the FOX 5 NY traffic girl :smitten: ... hey just my thing haha

Some people from the fatosphere did some good stuff awhile ago on the same show, but they weren't there this time. Roth got PWNDIZZLED, and the Gynecologist they played off as a regular Physician had a little ride too. Haha

I checked out the links and have to say that it was annoying to watch. The four women weren't exectly the best representatives for the bbw community but they shouldn't be told by "experts" how to live their lives. Free country isn't it? I failed to notice any logic, reason or a decent overall argument from anyone on that segment. The Dr guy (Im sure you all noticed) didnt really haveany clue and generalised like crazy. How often I've heard the same stuff that he said on other shows featuring big women. And Mimi Roth just seems like a pathetic excuse for a human being. Nuf said on that.
MeMe Roth's background is in PR and marketing. Weight obsession is one way billions get transferred from the middle class to the true "fat cats." Instead of just being upset, we need to educate ourselves about how the line between news and marketing is blurred. Then educate others that the media is propaganda and no longer objective.

Well, damn. When I saw Meme go off on the parents for "abusing" their children, I was surprised that they (her intended targets, including parents in the studio audience) didn't storm the stage and rip her extensions out of her smugly & impractically blonde head.
But then, the first mother & her child weren't exactly wonderful spokespeople for the SA movement. Mother puts herself across as little more than a gold-digging diva.
I hate the message that Meme is conveying, because it's hateful and judgmental and much of it is just plain ignorant. But she's not wrong about everything. It's not a great idea to eat nothing but greasy junk, get no exercise, and ignore the possibility of negative consequences of these lifestyle choices.

I Have Never Heard of this Mimi Broad.
I am Thankful for that.
I Mean, Really.
Letting a child have Self-Esteem Issues, that can lead to Eating Disorders and/or Death, Is Healthier and Better than having a child that thinks just because she is not a size 0 she is still beautiful?
...F-K That SH-T.
