I was just about to start this thread!!!
Also, if there aren't shops in Melbourne, what about aussie online shopping, so we're not paying a small fortune for shipping?

It is: www.plussizedclothing.com.au
Best of all they are really affordable, and when i ordered from them i got really great service and the clothes were wrapped really neatly, and you could tell they put care in to it. I love my clothes...HIGHLY RECOMENDED!!!!

go check out annalise!
they're melbourne based *(mckinnon) - pretty cheap and they do great sexy stuff :)
i'm a very loyal annalise customer.
you can buy their stuff through www.bang4bucks.com.au and their website which has a larger range www.fashionplus.com.au
I hate Autograph and mysize - their stuff doesnt fit my hips or boobs :(

My favourite plus-sized shops in Melbourne would be:
City Chic: www.citychiconline.com
More contemporary style clothes which keep up to date with the latest trends, so you can never go wrong there. They have several stores across Australia.
Towanda: www.towanda.com.au
Towanda stock more pricey and imported brands from the UK and US.
Dream Diva: Bridge Rd, Richmond. www.dreamdiva.com.au
Pretty similar to City Chic, but with a larger variety of styles and products.
Hope that helps a bit

err theres heaps on bang 4 bucks
http://www.bang4bucks.com.au/shop.php?user_id=100462&parent_id=474
if theres not a size for you there, email and ask them if they have any in stock to put up on bang4 bucks. they're really good about that. - tops on there for 29 bucks atm. and they combine shipping with very nice packaging.
I've been out of the game with my bung knee and more recently severely wry neck... yay for codeine.

I know this doesn't help you Melbourne peeps much but just in the last 6 to 12 months, 2 plus size stores (both selling 14-24) have opened up in the shopping centre close to where I live. One is called TS 14+ and the othe is called City Chic. Dunno if they have stores anywhere else. I also know of another place in the city called Extra Measure that sells 16-26 but I think that is more of a factory outlet type store.

Im a size 26.. and most only go up to 24 dammit... 24 just wont fit
might have to start making my own clothes.. :(

Yeah that's right, if you're bigger than size 24, you don't really have a hope at city chic. I used to shop there but am now 26 and don't fit in to anything of theirs. Plus they are pretty expensive.
Anyway, i am happy with the clothes i've found so far on www.plussizeclothing.com.au. I hate shopping, so it's more convenient online.

2 lovely girls helped me out, got me sizes, etc.
came out with a lovely new outfit for 100$, I was quite pleased :)

unfortunately.. if ur a size 24 or higher their service dont mean a thang..
they service larger women.. not morbidly obese people.. they have some nice clothes so its a shame.

When I was last in Melbourne, I remember going into city chic, and to me the clothes seemed far too overpriced, and they're made for skinny people but just with more material. They don't seem to think about how their clothes can make a big girl look good. Sure they're more fashionable, but I'd rather wear something I'm comfortable in and suits my curves. For that reason I preferred Autograph, I bought a few things that were really nicely cut. Even if it was for older people (I seemed to think so at the time anyway, I may be wrong), i found a few stylish things that were actually made with a fat person's body in mind, so I really appreciated that. And it was cheaper than City Chic too.

here's a question for you girls- I neeeeeed tights (full, with the horrific waist band and all) in a size 18 or 20- that WON'T bust a huge hole around my ass when i sit down. Just run of the mill black or brown ones- any clue where I can get these? need them for the weekend, so can't order online unfortunately.
thanks for any help :)

I seriously think Oz is behind the eight ball when it comes to fat chick clothes. Well fat chick clothes that are fashionable to us chickies who want to look funky & foxy.
I've never been a girly girl when it comes to anything but especially when it comes to clothes. And after checking out Torrids & Evans websites I found why I've always hated shopping, we have sucky clothes in bigger sizes, Down Under!
I see both these sites deliver to Oz, has anyone dealt with them, just curious??
Thnx :)

Thanks for the Welcome Filly <3 I'm from Melbourne, Vic. :>
@ Inhibited; I have a bit of that problem too, my belly is the bigger part of my body so getting pants that fit around the waist and looking decent on my legs is usually a huge problem for me lol, but eh; they're good some of the time, I think it depends on what they have in store at the time etc; also hard to get in there when they have the bigger sizes available! lol usually people snatch them up like hot cakes, don't blame them though haha. But when you do get pieces that look decent and fit well, it's pretty decently priced. I've looked in Big City Chic, and some of their stuff is so over priced it's not even funny, and fit worse than at best and less; wish I had the money to buy from stores over-seas, but even then I like to be able to check myself out in over-sized mirrors at a store before I decide to spend the money on the item lol. But anyway </end over-sized post> haha. Big-W Are good too sometimes, I tend to put things on lay-by if I find something I really like, it's usually hard to come by so :P

I bought a bit of stuff last year from yoursclothing... I loved how they were cheap and younger looking.. but you get what you pay for. A few of their products have dissapointed me like a bra that was supposed to be a c cup but the cup was much larger and fit on my head... lol and some leggings that arrived in the post with some holes in them already. :( I just sewed that up myself and gave the bra away to a charity... not worth returning.
But most of the stuff I got from them was lush...

Taking shape goes up to a 24 in dresses and things, but also does tops, skirts etc. in plus size S-XL. The cut of the clothes is big - I have a friend who is size 26+ and she loves their stuff.
Thing is it's a little pricey, but they have end of season sales and a factory outlet in Melbourne I believe. Also an online store.
As an idea, I usually wear a size 22 in pants and a 20 is way big enough for me in TS.

Ok i went on a bit of a splurge last weekend on clothes..
If your in melbourne.. DO I HAVE A TIP FOR YOU!
i prodominately shop at mysize and have never been to the factory outlet in richmond cos they usually only have the smaller sizes or things they couldnt sell..
i knew i was going to spend a bit so i called them and asked them to put away every extra large thing they had in stock... i saved a shit load!
I bought 17 tops.. and 1 skirt (for a gala that i didnt go to and am never going to wear now lol) for $512. That's $28 per item averaged out and i got casual stuff as well as work wear..
once i added up the original prices on the tags it came to well over $1,300..
DONT BUY RETAIL! its worth shopping around!

for all the melbourne girls Lisas lacies are starting to do clothes, have the most comfy undies I have ever owned, they are a bit pricey but the longevity far outweighs that and they go up to size 36, and their stuff even fits over my mega hips,
www.lisaslacies.com.au
if you are in melbourne well worth a visit but for anything over about a size 30/32 youd be better off ordering online, I have some of their lingerie and its all really well made ect
I do know of some others but cannot think, very bummed my fav ebay store @large clothing closed down cause they were awesome and very economical, actually for the most part I wear their clothes
and www.brastogo.com.au (also known as big girls dont cry anymore) is fantastic for some stuff to even do plus size swimwear
but yep we are seriously lacking in much decent stuff
http://www.eleganceplus.com.au/ is another one, I used to have tons of good links before my last puter died
if I find any more will be sure to post them

Have you guys checked out the plus ranges at Target and Big W... I get a lot of my clothing from there lately... Target has always been pretty good and Big W are really surprising me lately. Very impressed with a lot of their tops and dresses, for over leggings and such. Also, a shop I hadn't considered for a long time, that has been impressing me lately with the range of younger looking clothes is Autograph... you can shop online with them if you don't have one near you. They are kinda pricey but I like to go there when the specials are on (usually one at least each month) and I get some great deals. This place is good for casual weekend stuff and work wear. They go up to a 26 and it's a generous 26... I'm a 22 usually but a 20 in their stuff. :D
Finally, City Chic for going out clothes, got a dress for a wedding the other day and it's fabulous... sales at this shop are far and few between but they are great to go to for special events as I can always find something nice to wear. They go up to a 24 only though... so thats a minus on them.
Lastly, how much do the clothes at Kmart suck??? The plus range does not do it for me at all.. seems all the flare and design talent goes into the teen or 'average' size clothing lines... Boo to Kmart...

Its one of the reasons I love lisas lacies cause they have the comfiest knickers ever a bit pricey but they last for ages and they have some really nice pj's and lingerie and their prices can be pretty good well worth signing up for the newsletter as they often have specials

you could also try dale and waters they have mail order, and some good basics but dont have a website
darn it if I had known you last year would have known exactly were to send you on ebay as there was a great seller there that did that kind of thing and I got most of my clothes for between about $15-$50 over various times will keep an eye out for you :-)
There is also a place in redfern/surry hills in sydney great for work basics called cuddles but they are not online either but as it is a small bussiness she may be able to hook you up with some skirts and things and her prices are pretty good, I havent been there in some years though but her clothes last for ages and ages
http://www.discountshoppingguide.com.au/sydney?cid=1856&pid=5657 a link to the cuddles info with phone number, also it really does pay to look on ebay, there are quite a few people selling good plus sized stuff and also look worldwide and search both the sizes you want and the blah blah blah x sizes as well as you will find more stuff that way

Hiya guys, A friend of mine from WA posted this on FB, I haven't had much of a chance to check it out, but thought I'd post it here.

Thanks!! It's good to come across more plus size australian stores. Cute clothes.

I've never really looked at ON considering it didn't ship to AU, but now that I've browsed through the site, I see they have some nice things! I'm already considering buying one of the dresses.

Ok so I just tried to post another message on this thread but I mustn't have pressed submit properly :-S
Now, because succubus_dxb just had to share the old navy information, I ended up buying four items from them. Damn you succubus_dxb!! :p I blame you totally.
For anyone interested in purchasing from ON, keep in mind that whilst the prices of the clothes are quite cheap, the cost of postage is not. I just had to pay $60 postage! Hopefully it will be worth it.

I have been doing shopping baskets with their stuff in it for the last two days.... I love some of their stuff, I have shopped with them before. The issue for me is the quality. I have had a few miss items from them in the past - leggings with holes in them already, bra that was mis-sized i.e. cup was more like an e than a c, as marked.
I think when I have some more funds, I'll def shop with them again. I'm waiting for a sale though. They have alot of cute stuff and they are def cheap....
ETA: Sizing is fine. I usually go up one size when shopping UK sizes anyway. So if your a 22 here, shop for the 22-24's.

Standard international was 10 pounds which converts to about $16 AUS which is about $14.50 US (yay strong Aussie dollar).

GAP is opening in Sydney..... had anyone been to the one that opened up recently in Melbourne? do they stock plus sizes? There is nothing much on the website at all, from what i could see you can't shop online..

They have for over two years.... :) Between us, Bobbie and I practically have everything.
Free shipping too ladies...
And I usually watch the items for a little while as they move to clearance really quickly and you can snap up some bargains... but don't wait too long as I've missed out in the past.

Oh really?!? That's what I get for only reading the first two lines of an advert hehe. They look like they have some nice things - are they true to size?

They are hit and miss... The dresses are great. Tops are good and pants are hit and miss.... I can't ware pants from there as my legs are too thick... But they offer great modern choices... and the clearance prices are FANTASTIC!!!

Just curious, but how have people found ordering clothes online to be? I'm always worried that the size i order just won't fit right, or look right once i get it. But it's seeming like the only way for us Aussie bigger girls to get clothes that aren't from City Chic or similar (which are soooooo expensive when there aren't sales on, and just a personal opinion, but the quality is horrible in their clothes.)

Hi There.
I've had mixed experiences with online shopping, but generally speaking it's been positive. You just need to figure out which styles suit you. And remember you can always return or exchange something - you just have to weight up whether a return is worth the postage.
There are a few of my fav sites:
www.onestopplus.com
www.lanebyant.com (I like their bras)
www.avenue.com
www.kiyonna.com
www.igigi.com
www.torrid.com
www.asos.com/au also has some cool things, but I only ordered my first top from them today. I know other women have liked their things though.

I'm from New Zealand, but I really can not stress the flawlessness of Asos enough. I've had a few issues with sizing varying from piece to piece, but on the whole, it's my favourite place to shop. The free shipping to this part of the world is a lifesaver.

Asos curve are definitely worth taking a risk on... Try them out you might love it like I do and you can always send back for a refund. The free shipping is fantastic.
Try csomething in the Clarence or enter a code for a sale ( there's always an active code floating around).
Also, an Australian store loving at the moment for strictured work/ casual weekend stuff is virtushop. Again, free shipping within Australia, they are an Australian clothing company and I think they are on trend a lot. They offer good sales, that's how they got me... Lol
They are a sister company of ts14+ which is sold through myer. They offer sizes 12 to 24 but they run large so could fit up to a 26....

missmel.com.au has a good range of larger sizes, too.
