View Full Version : Suggestion Box
We would like to hear what you'd like to see here, and if you have any suggestions about how this forum could better serve our BBW community. It's not a given that every suggestion will be made concrete, but we'd like to hear your thoughts and ideas.
We will soon be polling and starting discussion on the possibility of a future private sub-forum in order to gauge the desire of this part of the Dimensions community for such a forum.
O' hi!
Could we make a similar thread to this (http://www.dimensionsmagazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=60715) that maybe focused more on the community as a whole and not just the bashes?
Or it's unnecessary with an another thread?
I've wanted to make a similar thread for a long time, but I don't want to start one because I'm not entirely sure how I should express my point with
my (current) vocabulary :D

Suze, I think that's an excellent idea and exactly the kind of thing we should be talking about here. Go for it. :)

Thanks, but I don't want to start one

:p
If it's ok for the mods, why don't you make that thread? You seem rather good at that stuff ;)

How about a BBW-FA Relationship Questions and Discussion thread?

Fasc, I think if you have an idea for a thread then you should just start a thread. Threads about FA/BBW dynamics from a BBW perspective are indeed welcome.

Not a suggestion, but a question.
Moving this post from the "expect too much" thread so I don't derail anything there.
Thanks for getting this thread back on topic, S&F. AS the title of this thread suggests (Are WE too demanding when it comes to dating?), and the placement of the thread within the protected BBW Forum also suggests, this is a thread for BBWs to talk about the topic, and not men or non-BBWs, no matter how well-meaning. If there are any more contentious posts from non-BBWs in this thread, the mod team will delete them, so please stay on topic and respect the rules of this forum.
Thank you,
mod butch
Butch (or Tina or Olwen), can one of you clarify if BBW also = SSBBW in terms of this forum. I always assumed we SSers were under this umbrella, but this post and a couple other things I've read make me wonder if I assumed wrong. I've come to like this board a lot and hope we're welcome to participate, but since we have our own lovely space I wouldn't be offended if we're not.

Rainy,
This forum is open to anyone who finds some aspect of the identity BBW (or 'fat woman,' which is my preferred label) a significant aspect of how they see themselves as a full human being. So yes, SSBBWs, former BBWs, and others who have struggled with body issues and wondering if their size was somehow 'too much' according to the society they live in, would be welcome as community members here on the protected BBW Forum.
Men and those who don't see themselves as connected to the BBW idea would be welcome to post as long as those posts don't read as negative in any way (and critiques, no matter how well-intentioned, would count as negative, in my book), or as sexualizing/objectifying fat women in any way. This seems to be what was proposed from the beginning by the women who drafted the proposal and submitted it to Conrad, and Tina, Olwen, and I are doing our best to uphold the idea of 'protected' that Dims community members wanted.
We're always open to suggestions, so if this approach seems to be letting down the BBW Community at Dimensions, please speak up, let us know, and let us all see how we can make this forum stronger, more useful, and more accommodating for us.
Thanks,
Mod Butch

Cool, Butch. Thank you. That spells it out very clearly. I won't worry about stepping on toes now.
I totally agree with Butch, Rainy. Thank you for saying it so clearly and eloquently, Butch.

I would still like to see a sub-forum where we can discuss private issues that men really do not need to read..I am not a prude but there are some thing about the female body men just do not need to know.
That is something that Conrad is considering as a possibility in the future.

I seconded this. It took me awhile to post a gyn question because it was an open forum.

I'd like a special place where we can talk about really personal issues (such as gyn or other health issues) that the men really don't need to be reading or commenting on.
I wish there was a way to make the BBW forum more protected. Men will often come in and make some sort of snide comment. A mod may pick it up and remove the comment, but the comment has already been made and makes me much more hesitant to post some questions, comments, etc.

Can I also state that I would like a more private area to discuss personal matters. I love the GYN thread but after posting in there, I got some really off messages from a couple of guys.
Unfortunately, that one is off somewhere in the future, if at all.
