Going to post a few pics tonight and the rest tomorrow. I need sleep!
http://i637.photobucket.com/albums/uu96/SoVerySoft/2009%20DC%20Convention/015-Jason-Frances-Bill-award.jpg
It was NAAFA's 40th Anniversary and Bill Fabrey, the founder (aka the "flounder" - in his words :p) received an award. Pictured above are Jason Docherty, Frances White (they are co-chairs of NAAFA) and Bill Fabrey.

The Saturday night dance was a masquerade ball, but I didn't seem to snap many people in masks. Here were the few I got...

One of the vendors at the convention was "Travelscoot (http://www.travelscoot.com)" - a portable mobility scooter.
Lots of people were trying them out. Including me. Actually, I knew before I got there that I wanted to buy one, but I was glad to see it in person, and take it for a spin.
http://i637.photobucket.com/albums/uu96/SoVerySoft/2009%20DC%20Convention/098-Elizabeth.jpg
Here's Elizabeth Fisher - I'd been reading about the scooter on her "My Travelscoot" blog (http://mytravelscoot.blogspot.com/), and I really thought it would open up a world of activities that I'd given up doing. So yup, I ordered one. Let's see if I start going places (like the zoo, museums, etc.) I'd better! (it wasn't cheap. lol)

Thanks, Cynth! It was comfy - but it was HOT (not exactly a summertime outfit) But I wanted to get the mask to match, so I wore it.

Randi I hope you love your TravelScoot as much as I love mine! It is nice just knowing I can go pretty much anywhere I want again and shop as long as I want.
I know it sounds kind of corny to people who are mobile but to those of us who have problems getting around or walking very far this thing rules.

Pictured above are (from left front, going clockwise around the table) Andrea, Bill, Jenny, Nancy, Miriam, David (musicman on Dims) and his wife Nancy (yes another Nancy! Stacey, it was really much sturdier than it might appear. That was my only concern (and it's why I wanted to try before I bought) although I know Elizabeth says she is 450 and it accommodates her quite well!
I was fine with it and can't wait to get mine!
