It doesn't have to be real silk but I'm searching for a robe with a tie, almost "kimono" like which goes just below my waist and somewhere above my knees. I don't want an ankle length robe! It would have to be a 5x. It's for a painting, so I'm not looking for top notch quality. Thanks oh fashion mavens.

I highly recommend chinesetailor.com (http://store.yahoo.com/ctailor/index.html) - fantastic site. I've had two jackets made by them, and not only were they delightful to deal with, they never balked at making bigger-sized garments, and the costs were minimal (I think I got a jacket for $60, this was a few years ago). They seem to have realized that people will pay far more for their work, and it appears they've upped their prices considerably since I used them, but it's still a bargain considering it's custom made to sizes that aren't usually readily available.

Not sure it will fit your needs, since it sounds like you might not want to take the time to have something custom designed. Still worth a look, though.

Hey MissT...

I think I have seen what you are asking for in the Sillhouettes catalog, if I remember correctly. (?) I keep an eye out, and if I find anything, I will post here.

What about Catherine's? They have some robe sets there which have the kimono look. May be a bit long for painting but you could always perform a cut down.
