I am so craving a burger. But it has to be a "good" burger, which eliminates places like McD's and Wendy's. I don't mind The Works, but I sometimes find them to be dry and the restaurant is definately not *ahem* full hips and tummy friendly.

So I am calling for help! What places in Ottawa make a good burger?(And what do you think goes into creating a good burger?)

There are a fair number of places that make a pretty decent burger, but it is a rare art to get to really great, I think. Most pubs will have at least a decent burger--I've been pretty happy with the Royal Oak chain in particular.

For a fantastic combo of cheap and good, try The HintonBurger, which is a tiny little place on Wellington, just west of where it emerges from Somerset (In Hintonburg, naturally). North side, little building at the back of a small parking lot. It is largely a take out place, but they do have some tables. Not sure how BBW friendly the seating is, as I've only gotten take out there.

I look forward to seeing other answers!

Being one of the token Ottawa people on here, I feel obligated to contribute something...however...I got nothing since the Works is about as far as I've gone in terms of searching out local burgers. They're okay, but nothing to go crazy over...I liked them more the first few times before the novelty wore off.

Thanks for the tip on Wellington, that area through to Westboro is booming. Is the road still torn up by Somerset? It was a mess last time I was there...

It's sad that I have nothing great ton contribute, considering all I've pretty much ever ordered while in Ottawa is either a pasta dish or a burger.

However, all places I've gone to serve beef burgers only. Would anyone by chance know of a place with a really great buffalo burger? Or beefalo, at least. I love the taste of a buffalo burger a lot more and the texture is a lot more natural, too. But I've only been to 2 places that have buffalo meat, and both are not Ottawa.
