Since Congress does not want to spend any more money on this war, our mission in Iraq is complete.

Why not, "Since too many American Soldiers and American Civilians do not support this war"? Why not "To save the lives of my sons and daughters"? Hmmmm... *sigh*

Because they don't care, Chimpi. Think about it: how many politician's kids are in Iraq? How many kids of truly rich and influential people are in Iraq? It doesn't touch them, up there in their ivory towers. The rich and powerful are insulated from regular life and they don't have to deal with 'regular life' and its issues. The lives lost are just numbers to them. And BTW, the "war" in Iraq isn't and never has been a war; it's a military action. They just called it a war in order to try to get people to behind them in a whupped up patriotic frenzy. And also so they could justify getting away with things that are not allowed except in times of war.

It would never happen, HFC. Cheney's ticker would give out and the torch would pass to the speaker of the House - which will be Nancy Pilosi after this fall's Democratic landslide.

I hadn't heard that - Sandie and I were out house-hunting yesterday, and I did not seen any news programs.

Conservatives don't know what to make of people like John Murtha - decorated Marine, supporter of the military, loyal Democrat. And of course, they hate ANYONE with a "D" after their name that has the courage to speak out about what's right and what's wrong.

I'm proud of the fact that my party has enough room in it for more conservative people like John Murtha, moderates like Colorado's Junior Senator Ken Salazar, AND liberals like Ted Kennedy and Barney Frank. We don't make strict adherence to the party line a requirement for membership.

Murtha's ideas are idiotic, incompetent, and impotent. This wannabe called for the immediate withdrawl of our troops from Iraq. Had we done this, we would not have killed Zarqawi. We appreciate his military service but not his brilliant ideas.

Sounds about right - Marylin Musgrave has been shoving a lot of dog poop lately, through her support of the gay rmarriage ban and other anti-gay legislation. She will probably lose this November, because she has been isolating herself from the people in her district. Her Democratic opponent, OTOH, has been doing something unheard of in the 4th CD - she's been going from town to town, actually TALKING TO PEOPLE - something Musgrave never does.

And as usual, HFC, you only told half the story. ONE Democrat who was not connected to the Paccione campaign apparantly took it upon herself to pull this stunt, yet you attempted to tie this to the entire Democratic Party. Yet I'll bet you had no problem at all with the Republicans who jammed the Democrat's "get out the vote" phones on Election Day a few years ago in New Hampshire.

FUnny that someone who suports Ann Coulter would call John Murtha's ideas "idiotic". He called for immediate withdrawal in order to start a debate - something that the GOP leaders in Congress had prevented up to that point.

And based on your posts on this board in support of the likes of people like Ann Coulter and Benny Hinn, I don't think you have any concept whatsoever of what a brilliant idea is, HFC.

Actually, he didn't. He asked for hearings and a debate on determining an exit strategy for Iraq, which would have involved a discussion of a staged withdrawal. It was a Republican (Duncan Hunter, if I recall correctly) who proposed an immediate withdrawal and put it up for a vote.

The one who proposed it wasn't for it and voted against it. The purpose was to force all the Democrats to vote against it, which they did since they weren't for immediate withdrawal either, so that talking points trolls such as yourself could then run around spewing, "Even the Democrats voted against pulling out of Iraq."

You know that Cheney's stated position is that the gay marriage amendment is wrong, and it should be left up to the states, right?

"Let me start by saying that effective immediately, foreign aid to those nations [which have not stood by our side during the Iraq conflict] ceases immediately and indefinitely. The money saved during the first year alone will pretty much pay for the costs of the Iraqi war."

Hilarious! The money we spend on foreign aid is a pittance, whereas the war will easily cost us a trillion dollars.
