Kudos for him!! Now let's see others stand up for equal rights, by sitting down until ALL people are treated equal: Gays, lesbians, thin, fat, Native American, Wiccan and Christian.

That kid's pretty awesome and so are his parents for supporting him. As a grade schooler, I HATED the pledge. I regularly challenged it on a number of basis'.

Why do you have to swear "under God" in a country where we're supposed to have freedom of religion?

Why do you have to pledge at ALL if we have freedom of speech?

If I have to do this pledge, isn't that a violation of my freedom and liberty?

My teachers hated that I complained and my parents were too disinterested in my to care enough to stick up for me or even hear me out. Eventually, I was actually told to just stand up and "pretend" to do it so as to not make waves or cause further trouble.

Still, nice to know some kids can understand the fundamentally right and wrong at that age, regardless of prior teachings.
