Default William "Fridge" Perry

After William Perry left Pro Football there was lots of speculation about his weight and health.

Here is a Blog Article on from from October 2008 about Perry and the troubles that he has been having with Guillain-Barré syndrome.

This is a scary disease/condition especially because some people get it as a reaction to vaccinations or surgery!

On a side note this seems like a good blog for people living with a disability.

Thanks for posting this. Always glad to see updates on 'the Fridge', who was such an icon for BHMs in the 1980s.

There were Football games where I almost felt sorry for the players on the other side of the line from him, I almost felt something for them

Default this disease

was it not called back in the day, "Chronic Fatique Syndrome" or yuppie disease. Cher had that back in the day and she was worn out though still sexy and out of commission for a time?

Early in disease etiology, Guillain-Barré syndrome can be misdiagnosed as myalgic encephalomyelitis (Chronic Fatigue Syndrome), but it is much more severe.

GBS is an autoimmune disorder, usually triggered by some sort of infection, in which peripheral nerves are attacked by immune cells and stripped of their myelin coat (the substance that increases impulse transmission velocity). Paralysis can result, as well as death if the cardio/pulmonary systems become compromised.

This was an interesting article, thank you for posting it.
My grandmother suffered from Guillain Barre syndrome seemingly at random (I wasn't born at the time). Over the course of a couple days she became completely paralyzed and eventually she went into a coma. She wasn't supposed to live through it, but she somehow made a full recovery, and she has never had any problems since. It is so scary how suddenly that disease can strike a person.

Default chronic fatique syndrone

just a side note about that disease and I remember that from the 80's how all the yuppie would complaining about having that and I just thought it was unusual that yuppies were the only ones getting it at that time and it was thought to be a fashionable disease at the time but who knew what was happening and lets not forget legionaires disease..Sometimes I wonder where they get their answers or make up some diseases...who knows...
