Very nice! I particularly like the harp-shaped earrings. I have a necklace using the same shape I still have to photograph. It's got very sensual lines and your whole composition is really lovely.

The harp shape is probably my favorite...I can't understand why for sure but it's a simple shape but theres so much that can be done to it.

Show us pictures of that necklace when you get a chance, would love to see it.

Soon, I hope. I missed my opportunity to today, the danged sun went behind some very full-looking clouds. I'm hoping they'll blow over by tomorrow. That's the problem with natural light -- it's the best for taking photos, but isn't so reliable.

Sadly yes, it is unreliable. And even worse now is the fact that winter is fast approaching. I'm thinking of investing in a light box, might be worth it. Or make one for myself...You ever tried one?

I have one. Don't like it. That's my own peculiar tastes though -- might be something you'll love. I know a couple of people who have them and don't like to use anything else.

So instead of taking pics I'm making more jewelry. Tomorrow, rain. Supposedly, if it is to be believed, partly cloudy on Thursday. Thanksgiving here is in October and Eric's family doesn't celebrate it, so Thurs will be just another day in this house, so I'll be photographing away -- I hope!

I LOVE it all! The earrings are beautiful and incredibly well made! Of course I love the bird cage and brass parrot! The bird cage is just too adorable!! That's for me!! I'm donating the brass parrot charm to a non-profit I'm a member of (we make parrot toys for birds in rescues or are in need of toys and supplies). We have an auction two times a year, so I'm donating the parrot charm for the upcoming Spring auction. There's no way they'll be able to snatch the bird cage away from me though!

Can't wait for my next purchase!

The harp-shaped necklace was finally photographed the other day. It was so gloomy I took what natural light I could get and then used the lights from the lightbox to augment it. Not the greatest, but I needed to do something in order to get the job done. Pictures are in my jewelry thread; I don't want to be putting photos of my jewelry in your sale thread.

I think I'll end up making my own, because it looks easy from some tutorials I've seen for the light boxes. I guess it's a lot better than putting a bunch of money on something I may end up not liking. Natural light does look great. I've noticed a huge difference...artificial light is so finnicky, especially with a light piece of jewelry on a dark background. Exposure ends up killing it.

Aww, no Thanksgiving feast? Thats kind of a bummer, but I hope you treated yourself to something delicious.

Glad to hear you got the items real fast! It was hard for me to part with that birdcage, but I'm glad that you're absolutely loving it. Its good to hear too that the brass birdie is going towards a good cause. I hope the auction goes well!

I think that's a very beautiful piece, despite the light not being the brightest. It's very nice and a simple design. I wish my photos looked like yours do. I just find it hard to get the piece in the right light, position and so on. Most of my pictures I feel are kind of 'harsh and sterile' looking. Ick.

Things are going well for me so far. I made a few sales on Etsy and some at work which I'll get to finish the transaction on monday. I'm excited and looking forward to more sales. It's a start! I hope the same is well for you too!

But I think it's the kind of thing that evolves over time, and I try to find different ways to to improve. But yeah, with the lighting situation, not so good.

Glad your sale is going well. A lot of people are buying right now, I guess, and handmade is big now, which is nice. I think that the wonderful thing about that is that it makes a difference in the life of an artisan immediately, rather than buying from a big store, where the money filters out and trickles down. Yes, the sale is going well. I made a sale for jewelry that will be used for a Christmas wedding in Singapore. You never know who will buy from you (even celebrities), which is one of the things I love about my Etsy store, that there are those opportunities.

Yeah, that money thing with it filtering and trickling down...that's almost not worth all the effort involved. By the time it gets to the origional artist, it's normally down to nothing.

Wow, I hope that bride is going to love her necklace! Trust me, I'd feel honored to have a piece featured in a wedding or better, bought by a celebrity. I'd have a heart attack of happiness!

Not too many things are better than handmade anything. They usually hold up better (save the occasional oopsies), taste better (talking about food here!) and generally are much nicer to last longer.

Etsy is too addictive.

By the way, glad you like the Pride necklace. I wanted something that would be colorful and meaningful to a bunch of people. Hopefully this can be the case!

My next hope is to find larger rondelles to do a larger version of it.

The celebrity thing is pretty cool, but ultimately it's like any other sale. What I love the most are my repeat customers. I try to treat them like the special people they are, because they are the ones, really, who are helping me to realize my dream, and the fact that they come back repeatedly is a huge compliment and makes me feel warm and grateful and just overall happy.

I agree with you about handmade, but don't find that jewelry is always more durable. For instance, some of it can be quite delicate, like thinly hammered silver, etc. Then again, unless we're talking very thick metal or jewelry that has gone through the wax casting method, you can't be rough with it anyway. It's a selfish thing, though, because I love doing it so much, so while it's a business, it's also for my own pleasure, too.

I think that necklace would look great as a larger version, too.

Definately! Repeat customers are the best because you -know- they were definately happy with their first order and are willing to return for more.

And yeah, now that you mention it, I've come across some flimsy handmade things, but fortunately that's not been too often. I'm so harsh on my jewelry that I wear that it's gotta be sturdy.

I can't wait to get some larger rondelles to try that necklace again. It already got sold!
