Default Plus Size Wedding Dresses

Hiya All

I've been writing some hubpages on plus size wedding dresses and wondered if anyone had personal experiences to share of hunting for "the dress".

If anyone is interested in what I've written so far happy to share but didn't want to be spammy

I lucked out and found a local seamstress who made mine. She did exactly what I wanted, and for a lot less than most "average" sized brides would have paid at a boutique / dress shop. That includes also making all three bridesmaid dresses.

Great idea Betty - I'm trying to concentrate on affordable gowns that retail for under $300 but I think I'll incorporate your suggestion in my next hub

I've found hunting for an affordable, elegant yet flattering wedding gown in plus sizes to be near impossible for me. Especially because i'm such a pear shaped girl, my top half is an 18 in Australian sizes, and my bottom half is a 22 - 24 depending on the brands. And in Australia there are so FEW bridal places dedicated to plus size brides that don't make you look frumpy.

I would be very interested to hear how other plus size brides found their gowns, because i'm at the point where it's too upsetting to plan my own wedding >.< and that just seems wrong.

My suggestion is to buy the dress that fits your larger parts and then have a seamstress alter it to fit the smaller bits

If you're having a non-traditional wedding, Holy Clothing has some really pretty dresses that would work. The skirts on their dresses are very full, and they give the actual garment measurements on each style...which helps a LOT.

I bought my dream dress in the largest size they had I think it was a 22/24.. I took it to a seamstress and she opened the sides up and placed 2 white silk panels about 6-8 inches on each side..no one knew and I had a designer dress..send me a message and I will send you a picture if you would like..

This site has a lovely range of plus size gowns, and I'm sure you'd be able to find something that can be altered to fit your figure.
