Default The FFA in "Casanova"

This likely has been discussed here before.... Last night I watched the movie Casanova with the late Heath Ledger. This version is a comedy and not a bad one. What I found interesting is that the still very presentable mom of Casanova's love interest Francesca, the one he really wants, is an unabashed female FA.

Francesca is scheduled to marry a rich Genoan merchant she'd never seen. He's a fat man with an imposing presence. When reference to his size comes up, Francesca's mom swoons how her husband had been "monumental," and it's quite clear where she stands with her physical preferences. When she finally sees the fat merchant she's instantly smitten and it's lust (and love) at first sight. This was a really nice portrayal of FFA-ism.

I love that movie! Oliver Platt plays the lard merchant Paprizzio, and he is such a sweetheart. My reaction when Andrea (Francesca's mom) was talking about her late husband was, "Did I just hear that!?"

Did you catch the wood carvings on Paprizzio's barge? They were all big-bellied, bare-chested men (wish I knew how to take screencaps off of DVDs...)
