I saw this lovely man at a department store, where he had somehow managed to get himself at least somewhat comfortably seated in the largest chair in the furniture department while he patiently read and waited for someone else (his wife, I presume.. damn lucky woman) to finish her shopping.
I waited around for as long as I dared, hoping that the wife would return and he would get to his feet. I really wanted to see him standing and walking. Unfortunately, it wasn't to be. His wife is a marathon shopper, I guess, and I had to leave before getting to see him get up and walk away. Ah well. Still, I was mightily impressed. He has the kind of soft, billowy fat that I find most touchable and most visually appealing. I can easily imagine cuddling up against him, my own body sinking in. My favourite imagining involves sleeping against or on that giant belly, feeling safe. http://crittersffa.deviantart.com/ar...mall-304226971 |

I haven't put much up there yet.. I started that ID a couple of days ago in order to share some of my more personal stuff and keep the personal stuff away from my professional DA space, which I use as a portfolio for comic book and graphic novel work for potential publishers to see. As I create more, I'll share more. And one good thing, there's never any shortage of inspiration out there. Lots of big people around, lots of enjoyment for me, and lots of chances to draw.
I won't do everything in colour, but I had to capture the depth of tone visible from the deep, pocketed creases and shadowed areas to those bathed in the bright fluorescent lighting of the store, and colour works best for that. Plus, I just love playing with my markers! I've not been spending much time working at personal, private stuff due to some major projects that have consumed all of my time and attention this year, and I wasn't happy enough with old stuff to share it. My style has done a major change during the past couple of years, going from Disney-esque cartoonery to a more realistic graphic novel style, and I find myself looking back on my old stuff with a certain derision.. it's too immature and childish. |
