Ok...how do I get to the hotel from Union Station in DC? I've looked at hopstop.com but can't wrap my pea brain around what they are telling me

Well, Union Station is quite a distance from Dulles. You COULD take a taxi, but it's probably a 30 mile ride, and it would probably cost you $50. However, the DC Metro train system is pretty easy to understand. The cheapest and simplest way (and the way I would do it) is as follows:

-From Union Station, take the Red Line (towards Shady Grove) to the Metro Center stop.
-From Metro Center, take the Orange Line (towards Vienna) to the Rosslyn stop.
-From Rossyln, take the 5A bus to Dulles Airport
-From the airport, take the hotel shuttle to the hotel.

It's not a short trip by any means, but if you're not afraid of public transportation, it's the best way to get there. I promise it's not as scary as it sounds!

I use public transportation every day, so it doesn't bother me. It is definitely confusing to figure out the system in a new place though. This is super helpful...thanks!!!

Since I'm getting to the hotel the same way (metro to bus to shuttle) I could always meet you at Union Station and we could do the rest together. It'll be an adventure!

Ok I just bought my train tickets. I was procrastinating to try to figure out what times would be good for arrivals/departures but while I was waiting the tickets went from $63.00 and $120.00 to $84.00 and $198.00 so I figured I'd better stop planning and just book the damn things before I ended up paying $500.00 for some train tickets LOL

So, I should be arriving in DC at around 2:15 on Friday

(and on the train home at 11:00 on Sunday, but that's a much less exciting report LOL)
