Default ISO Lobster Rolls!

I've been craving lobster rolls for well over a year...I can't fight it anymore. If a girl who lives in NJ wanted really good lobster rolls where would see need to go? I'm thinking I would be willing to do a 4 or 5 hour drive if need be.

Thanks fellow foodies!!!

Default New England

I have to agree with Leesa, Asshley. I've been all over the US and really only seen them in New England. Ever see a McLobster Roll? I did. I never had one, but I saw it.

As a Vermonter, I can tell you where to get the GOOD lobstah rolls!!! MMMMmmm..

Wells, ME
Bethel, ME
Mystic, CT

Don't EVER accept cheap lobster rolls- the best lobster rolls are offered as hot OR cold, are on a big toasted New England style roll, and are stuffed with bigger chunks of lobster. You could get them anywhere, but if you are paying under $12.00 for one, you get what you pay for... which isn't all that good.

What is a lobster roll?

Krismiss, a lobster roll is lobster meat on a roll. It consists of a bun (usually a new england style top split hot dog bun) filled with either a lightly mayo dressed lobster salad with huge chunks of lobster, or warm chunks of lobster with butter.

Here's one I got recently. I asked for it without mayo.

And Carla - I know a place in Highlands (yes, NJ) that has lobster rolls. There are several seafood places in that area with fresh lobster, but the one I know for sure is Bahr's Landing. I've never gotten the lobster roll there (since I always get the whole lobsters) but they do have them on the menu.

You know I'd love to go there with you!

Here's one with mayo - this one was ordered from a local sub shop in Massachusetts (D'Angelo's) and I was amazed how good it was!

Highlands is by Sandy Hook - it's around exit 117 I think (off the GSP) but then it's a bit of a drive to the shore.

I can't go this weekend but maybe the one after? Maybe we can organize a few people and head out there?

You have to go before July 4th tho, it's crazy busy traffic by then.

Call them first - make sure they have them. I can't imagine they wouldn't since they always have fresh, live lobster. But that's a long drive for you. Give them a call!

and enjoy! I'll be eating lobster this weekend elsewhere

God, Randi, yer killin' me. I am so craving a lobster roll now - take me with you, Carla!

Fact is, we don't have lobster rolls here on the West Coast; well, we have these poor imitations that more of an expensive insult than anything else ... But, we do have Puerto Nuevo style Baja lobster. Awesome stuff, just lobster, butter and fresh, soft, handmade tortillas!
Quote:
Puerto Nuevo, the self-described "Lobster Capital of Baja," where you can choose from dozens of restaurants serving up langostas. Pan-fried lobsters. According to tradition, the lobsters are pan-fried in lard, so the meat stays soft and tender with beans, rice and homemade flour tortillas served on the side.Puerto Nuevo Baja was founded in 1956 with the opening of Puerto Nuevo II Restaurant, which is still one of the most popular restaurants in Puerto Nuevo. Today Puerto Nuevo is home to over 30 restaurants all serving the same thing. Almost a million lobsters are served in the Rosarito coastal area each year. "Puerto Nuevo-style" is now a world-famous synonym for the exquisite lobster offered in local restaurants. Mexico Lobster in Puerto Nuevo Baja California is a long-standing tradition for those visiting from the states. Puerto Nuevo Baja is a real favorite for San Diegan's who can get there within 50 minutes from downtown. In Puerto Nuevo Mexico you can enjoy incredible ocean views in most of the restaurants, however make sure you donít judge the restaurants by appearance alone, you might miss out. Puerto Nuevo is locally known as the "Lobster Village". Puerto Nuevo is a great little village with plenty of little shops and arts and crafts stores

No, I mentioned in my post with the first lobster roll pic that it is called Bahr's Landing. Here's their website (it's crappy, but it will get you there.)
