Lane Bryant (and other brands) jeans?

I haven't had too much experience with jeans from Lane Bryant [store], but all of the ones I've tried (and ended up returning) were made from a thinner, much stretchier fabric than "regular" stretch jeans. Have any of you found this to be true? Every now and then I see jeans on the website that I like, but I'm hesitant to buy them because I'm not sure how heavy the fabric will be. I prefer a heavier stretch jean, and my favorite jeans come from Gap. Stretchier jeans, well, stretch out quite a bit after wearing. I know lots of women here have spoken very highly of Avenue denim lite jeans, and I'm hesitant about these for the same reason. I just feel "weird" wearing light, very stretchy jeans.

How about Old Navy and Fashion Bug? I'm not familiar with these companies, but I assume lower prices mean jeans that aren't as sturdy?? I'm worried about getting jeans that fall apart after a couple of washings.

This is on my mind because I'm in the market for a pair of cropped jeans. (Gap has a pair I really like, but it's sold out in their larger sizes.)

P.S. Anyone else not a huge fan of all of the "whiskering" that's on jeans everywhere? Must they whisker just about every pair of jeans on the market - especially when it's not subtle or otherwise well done?

Frankie, I like the Denim Lite jeans from The Avenue. They aren't thin, nor too thick, and I like the way they fit. We also have one here in town, too, as well as a Fashion Bug...

I feel the same way about the jeans at Lane Bryant. The thin, super-stretch denim just makes me look bubbly. The Seven jeans that they sell are nice though. I find that they run about a size small, and each style is cut drastically different, so I could never find a pair that suited me. They are super cute if they work on you though, and they're a heavier normal denim.

I am very loyal to Old Navy jeans though, and they are surprisingly durable. My favorite-fitting pair is from 2004 and I still wear them to death- no holes, tears, or rubbed-out inner thighs. The fits have changed a little, and I find that the different rises affect the overall fit A LOT. I would suggest trying on a few pairs of different sizes/rises/cuts to find which one works best, and stick with it.

If you are willing to spend a bit more cash, I say check out Svoboda - the owner, Jessica is super nice and I love the fit and rise of her jeans. She really knows what she's doing!

I'm a HUGE fan of Sonoma jeans from Kohls. I got one pair, loved them so much, I went back to that store, as well as 3 other stores to clean out all they had! They're boot cut, slightly lower rise, a nice denim weight with lycra. They're perfect! I didn't have to alter them at all. The best part, they're only $15.00!! I ended up with 6 pairs. I'm alternating 2 now, and have the others stashed on the shelf for the future when these wear out.

I like Gap's Long and Lean Jeans, no stretch. They're expensive but sometimes I find them on EBay for cheap. You really need to try a bunch of different kinds of jeans to get the kind that works for you. I also like Old Navy low waist.

When you find jeans in the brand/color/cut/size you like, buy a few pairs, if you can. Then you don't have to deal with jean shopping anymore. I find jean shopping to be more difficult than bathing suit shopping, or at least I used to, until I figured out the size/cut of my current favorite jeans.

I personally hate Lane Bryant's jeans because they always shrink in length in the wash. Old Navy jeans give me a terrible case of diaper ass. Denim Lites are too stretchy for me. The only jeans that really seem to work for me are Apple Bottoms. They fit like a dreaaaam.

Hi...Check out YMI jeans. You can find them at any DEB or Dots stores. They are made from a good quality material and the fit is awesome. I have never had a pair shrink or rip on me. They are a steal for the price (usually 34.99, on sale 19.99). Their best feature is they can make anyone look as though they have a fabulous ass. That is all I have been wearing for the last few months.

I have issues with length when it comes to any type of pants. Average is often too short for me, and Tall is almost always too long, so I'm thrilled when I find pants that are just right.

Around the same time, I ordered a pair of Avenue Denim Lites online and bought a pair of jeans from a Catherine's store, since I've had good luck on pants from there. I immediately fell in love with the jeans from Catherine's, because they are a perfect length, perfect weight, and just the right amount of stretch. Also, they aren't baggy...fit my curves just right without making me feel all bound up. When the Avenue jeans came, I was disappointed to find that they were about an inch too short. I mean seriously too short. These were both average length jeans, same size. Rather than mess with sending the Avenue jeans back, I opted for the grunge look and took out the hem, but the Catherine's jeans are still my favorite. The only downside to them is that they are rather expensive at $40, but that price is worth it to me to have such comfortable jeans, and I'll likely get a couple more pair in coming months.
