Default Whats the reason...

... that in Germany no forum like Dimensions exists? And even when we had some bigger forums, they all were pretty short-lived compared to Dimensions. So the question is: why is this? Is there a reason, that within the german-speaking countries it appears to be very difficult to discuss these themes.

And so I ask the rest of the world: what would you think is the reason, that Dimensions is successfull over such a long period of time? Is this cultural reasoned? A fluke? Something else?

Best regards

Markus

In part I think it is a fluke. It was one of the first of this type of site, there had been the Dimensions print magazine before the site came up so it had an existing 'brand,' and it had an owner that was dedicated to keeping it alive. So it started with a natural audience, and it kept running.

It is hard to get enough people to one site or group now to hit that 'critical mass' of people to keep it interesting. Probably especially when you are drawing from a smaller pool of people like you would with a German language site.

Just my thoughts, not based on any research.
