Default Want opinions on a business idea

Hey folks. I have an idea to start a small vending business for me and Wayne and I wanted some opinions.

I have an old family recipe for Italian Cheese cake made from Ricotta cheese. It is to die for. Not too sweet - not too rich - and NO you cannot have it. LOL

I want to make Italian cheese cake squares (about the size of a Dove bar) - freeze them on a stick and coat them in chocolate and sell them out of my car as "Cheese Cake on a Stick".

The new Honda Element we just bought will fit a small chest freezer and I have been trying to figure out a way to do this for some time now. I can get 2 magnetic signs made to stick to the car that say "Italian Cheese Cake on a stick".

Wayne and I would vend on the weekends. Considering how hot it's been I am thinking this could work and be a second income for us.

What do you think????

Good idea. This sounds a lot like frozen baby Watson's cheesecakes which were yummy, but I can't find them any more. But I love good ricotta pie and a frozen version as an icy pop confection sounds great. Bon chance!

Sandie, sounds deeeelish! Where would you vend from? I know you said your car, but parked where?

I would check into the laws that regulate food vending as well as the insurance issues, which might make it a little more difficult and a bit less profitable. You probably already have, and if so, I don't mean to state the obvious.

Before you go into business, I think you need to let us all sample them.

and...post pics plz tanks

Also try the local flea markets and craft fairs. This is the last week of county fairs here.. leading up to State fair.

The greater the variety of your product the better. People like to choose.

And with the political season heating up, there are bound to be lots of rallys.

Good luck to you on your business venture! I love baking and lots of friends have encouraged me to try to sell but I wouldn't know where to begin. If I can suggest one thing though it would be to look into what you would do if someone claimed to get sick from one of your cheesecakes. We all know this is the land of sue happy people!

There might be food handling and service laws to consider, too, in addition to business licenses.

Smile The popularity...

of the David Burke and Donatella tuxedo cheesecake pop, and the fair booths with cheesecake on a stick suggest that there is a growing market.

I know I personally am a cheesecake ho, so I wickedly relish the idea of many many cheescake products *drool* all within arm's reach.

**rummages through cabinets in a vain attempt to find cheesecake-like substance**

Dang.

Good luck!
