*Robin Williams Plan*

If only we could!

Everybody complains, but nobody comes up with a plan!! Well, Robin Williams has come up with a plan, and it's a doozie!! I, personally, like it.

The Plan!

You gotta love Robin Williams......
Even if he's nuts! Leave it to Robin Williams to come up with the perfect plan. What we need now is for our UN Ambassador to stand up and repeat this message.

Robin Williams' plan...(Hard to argue with this logic!)

"I see a lot of people yelling for peace but I have not heard of a plan for
peace. So, here's one plan."

1) "The US will apologize to the world for our "interference" in their affairs, past & present. You know, Hitler, Mussolini, Stalin, Tojo, Noriega, Milosevic, Hussein, and the rest of those 'good ole boys', we will never "interfere" again.

2) We will withdraw our troops from all over the world, starting with Germany, South Korea, the Middle East, and the Philippines. They don't want us there. We would station troops at our borders. No one allowed sneaking through holes in the fence.

3) All illegal aliens have 90 days to get their affairs together and leave. We'll give them a free trip home. After 90 days the remainder will be gathered up and deported immediately, regardless of whom or where they are. They're illegal!!! France will welcome them.

4) All future visitors will be thoroughly checked and limited to 90 days unless given a special permit!!!! No one from a terrorist nation will be allowed in. If you don't like it there, change it yourself and don't hide here. Asylum would never be available to anyone. We don't need any more cab drivers or 7-11 cashiers.

5) No foreign "students" over age 21. The older ones are the bombers. If they don't attend classes, they get a "D" and it's back home baby.

6) The US will make a strong effort to become self-sufficient energy wise. This will include developing nonpolluting sources of energy but will require a temporary drilling of oil in the Alaskan wilderness. The caribou will have to cope for a while.

7) Offer Saudi Arabia and other oil producing countries $10 a barrel for their oil. If they don't like it, we go some place else. They can go somewhere else to sell their production. (About a week of the wells filling up the storage sites would be enough.)

8) If there is a famine or other natural catastrophe in the world, we will not "interfere." They can pray to Allah or whomever, for seeds, rain, cement or whatever they need. Besides most of what we give them are stolen or given to the army. The people who need it most get very little, if anything.

9) Ship the UN Headquarters to an isolated island some place. We don't need the spies and fair weather friends here. Besides, the building would make a good homeless shelter or lockup for illegal aliens.

10) All Americans must go to charm and beauty school. That way, no one can call us "Ugly Americans" any longer. The Language we speak is ENGLISH...learn it...or LEAVE...Now, isn't that a winner of a plan?

Sounds like the same plan I've seen attributed to several celebrities over the last few years. Even though SOME good points, I doubt it originated with any of the attributed celebs.

I have seen bits and pieces of this before. Whether or not Robin Williams came up with it, it certainly does make a lot of valid points, if in a sarcastic manner. The rest of the world depends on us in many ways, but they always want it on their terms.

I should keep a copy of this for in a history classroom, if I ever get my own again. Basically, it makes you think.

This is why I tend to stay out of political threads, but really the only thing it makes me think is "wow, whoever the author of this may be, that person is certainly no one I'd care to be acquainted with."

I think that this political *sarcastic humorist* has his good points and bad points. For the most part, I know that I definitely despise the personality and the general vibe you get from reading the post. But, I felt compelled to allow any of you to say what you felt about it any how. Someone sent it to me, and couldn't figure out how funny it actually was. So, this particular political writing is definitely not my forte. I much more prefer other topics like *music* lol .....

It just seems to me to be an example of black and white thinking -- if taken seriously, which I think some would, and that is troubling.

For those who would agree with this plan, or find it hard to argue with:

The attitude may be provincial, but the actual mechanics of the argument are naive and ridiculous. The person who actually wrote this apparently knows very little about the modern American foreign economy, international politics, oil economies, and American history (esp. pre-Mexican-American War/Napoleonic Wars). Sounds great if the world were made out of tree-forts and clubhouses, but unfortunately that's not the world we live in. We're grown-ups, and grown-ups have grown-up problems.

If we actually implemented this plan, I think in 2-4 years we could actually economically traverse about 175 years. I'm talkin' even before the US acquired the one-third of it's territory that was inhabited by more Spanish-speakers than English-speakers and henceforth avoided a singular official language....(those are the states that still bear their Spanish names, unless you want to give them all back: California [Hot Country], Nevada [Snowy], Colorado [Reddish], Arizona [Arid Zone], Montana [Mountainy], Texas, and New Mexico; plus Oklahoma, Wyoming, and Utah.)

If your insular, fine. Just don't be ignorantly bigoted about it. You might wind up screwing yourself!

I'll just say for now that the United States has provoked every war it's been in. The US has never fought a defensive war - not even WW2. It is one of the most aggressive empire builders in history, and the most aggressive nation on the planet today.

You know, I'm not at all sure that it was even intended as satiric humor. We don't really have any evidence one way or another - there's no context surrounding it, unlike something like Gulliver's Travels.

I think the reason I don't find it funny at all may be because I live in Texas. There are many many people in Texas who think exactly like this and would definitely cheer the writer on. We just voted to write discrimination into our constitution, for pity's sake. Here's a link to a show that I encourage any progressives to watch, because we need to understand what we are up against. This message is a sad example of the overly simplistic thinking that often disregards history and results in our leaders creating unnecessary difficulties for our country. I find it highly disturbing that so many people have no concept of the nuances and results of America's policies.

You cannot ignore or rewrite history. In fact if anything, the United States should perhaps pay closer attention to its history than it does currently. If these points are being seriously considered, or are even viewed as being somehow representitive of the views of a section of society, it is indeed a very disturbing day in which so many gross generalisations, over simplifications and simple ignorance of facts and the situation.

Well maybe if you know what they are talking about, you might be able to actually understand what they are on about and hence contribute to it. Blaming education failures is the one way in which people who have failed or wasted the resources given to them can find a scrapegoat.

If you want to ignore history, then go and live in either:

a)Some form of back to basics place in the country b) like some sort of prewritten society.
