ME? You are repeating a rumor as a way to attack Donald Trump. A man that has not even been sworn in as president.

Correct, only most Trump supporters are racists, a lot of them are "decent" people who are stupid and think a con-man who has his cheap crap made in China is going to bring their jobs back. There's a reason why he won every single white demographic. Even age 18-29 whites went for the conservative for the first time since the Earth cooled. A coincidence of course. I guess minorities love politics as usual.
If they're worthless enough to vote for someone who is a proud, vocal racist running on a platform of white nationalism then they don't get the benefit of the doubt.

How awful, the establishment wasn't nice enough to an anti-establishment candidate, fancy that. He lost by 3 and a half million votes, the Democratic party isn't responsible for that. Maybe they would've preferred him if he'd been a Democrat for longer than a week. I wish he had won the primary too but there's no reason to think that the racists who voted for the racist Trump were going to vote for a Jew who talked openly about racial justice. It might've been closer but there's no way to know because polling didn't account for the white rage that just elected a virulent bigot.

No, but using race as a club against your political opponents that are not racist is a form of racism. A person is more than their skin color.

But whether or not you "See color" doesn't change the fact that many people still do, and they will judge people negatively based on it without holistic perception.

Whether or not they are racists, they voted for an unapologetic racist who was endorsed by the KKK. That says something about them whether they want it to or not.

Then by all means cite a statement where Donald Trump claimed to be a racist. Cite a statement where Trump thanked the KKK for their support and did not denounce them.

Actually, it says something about those with Trump Derangement Syndrome or TDS that make these charges.

And this helps Democrats get back into office how? Poor whites aren't any more racist than they were back in the 30's when they were the bulwark of the Democratic party, actually they're a great deal less. If you need a group's vote dismissing them all as stupid racists is probably not a winning strategy. It might be, dare I say it, bigotry.

As the saying goes -- there is nothing new under the sun.

Our country is following the path tread by California 22 years ago. In 1994 Republican Pete Wilson road a wave of racist and anti-immigrant sentiment to victory. It proved a Pyrrhic victory. Immigrants, minorities, and young people (i.e. future voters) turned against the GOP -- California turned from a fairly Red State to the deepest Blue.

https://ww2.kqed.org/news/2014/11/04...l-immigration/

http://www.latinodecisions.com/blog/...prop187effect/

The GOP has chosen its path. By courting racists, xenophobes, nativists, homophobes, and grumpy old haters in general the GOP alienated the people who are our country's future. They will shortly pay the price (and its going to be a lot more scary than a very moderate Hillary).

Do you not know that the Democrats were the preferred party of racists back then and that the New Deal deliberately excluded black people? Just one example: Social Security didn't cover domestic and agricultural workers - a category which 90% of black people just happened to fall under. It wasn't a coincidence, it was deliberate because Democrats needed the South and racists in general to win elections. They were an indispensable part of the coalition. Republicans tried to make lynching a federal crime and FDR stymied them. Not because he was pro-lynching but because the most racist voters and virtually the entire South were Democrats. Similarly, excluding civil rights from the 2nd bill of rights wasn't an "oops!" moment, he left it out because it was anathema to a huge part of the Democratic base.
After the Democrats passed the Civil Rights Act they became the preferred party of minorities and the vocal racists mostly left immediately and whites in general have been slowly moving away to the GOP ever since. This isn't a coincidence either. Saying working class whites were Democrats when the party was openly racist and have steadily become less so as the party has become more diverse over the same time period makes the opposite point than the one you're going for.

As to you child. That is just wrong, but to blame Donald Trump is just silly. Presidents just don't have that power. You and your child's classmates parents need to talk with the principle of their school or the school board.
I wrote, In the two days since the election.

Please explain to me where you got the idea that I was holding "the Trump Administration" responsible. I was very careful simply to list things that occurred. In the two days since the election, there has been a flood tide of reports of hateful actions.

Will some of those hateful words and actions result in the people who say and do them being punished? Probably. That's not my point. I think six students received one day of "in-school suspension" -- whoa. My point is that overnight, after having seen a foul-mouthed, misogynistic bully who insults women, gays, transgender people, Asians, Mexicans, and people with disabilities elected to office, millions of Americans feel as though they have been given blanket permission to assault others -- a feeling that simply was not there before. Millions of Americans are feeling newly empowered to display their bigotry openly and proudly.

A person in a position of great power spent close to a year modeling the sort of behavior for which we punish our 3-year-olds. I am saddened, though not surprised, to see millions of Americans imitating that behavior.

Some people will be punished for their actions. That didn't stop a student at a university half an hour east of my house from writing, "Hasta la vista, Mexicans -- now go home!" on a classroom whiteboard. If that student is suspended ... will that erase the emotional damage felt by the students who saw it?

Actually, it says something about those with Trump Derangement Syndrome or TDS that make these charges.
He did not thank the KKK -- but he absolutely did not denounce them -- I find his silence deafening.

He does not claim to be a racist -- who would? -- but his countless statements insulting people of color, women, and people with disabilities speak louder than his actual words ever could.

Have you ever heard the phrase, "Actions speak louder than words?"

Thank you, BBD. I know it's hard to be the 'impartial moderator' while also standing up for what's right, but I do appreciate it.

Actually, he did denounce them. Even a liberal LA Times said so.

Yet, you seem to have no problem when he insulted other white male Republicans who were competing with him for the Republican nomination. I guess they just don't count.

As to your question? Yes, but are you talking about the actions of the people in the streets, protesting the election of Donald Trump.

It is funny that those with the loudest voices against Trump seem to have no problem with the actions of people protesting. Remember, the election is over. Hillary Clinton lost and Trump won.

We're not discussing the other candidates. Many of them are pretty scary -- Cruz is an R.J. Rushdoony reconstructionist who unabashedly wants an alt-right "Christian" theocracy. I do, since you ask, have a problem with a number of them. That problem has now receded, since they do not hold the office of president-elect. I'm worried about the one who actually does.

As to why I'm not talking much about the people in the street, they're gathered in the street. They are not physically and verbally assaulting people. They're not grabbing women by their private parts and saying, "Trump does it and he's president," as several schoolboys were doing yesterday. They're not harassing my child. They are not assaulting the marginalized.

And as a person of faith, I have an obligation to speak up and speak out when those in power attack the marginalized.

I do, however, stand corrected. I missed the LA Times editorial and was not aware that his campaign had disavowed the endorsement/praise.

I withdraw the statement that he was silent on the issue.
