Default Wow.

I put on some old pants and could barely button them. I mean it took all my strengh. The scale read 225. I need to post a pic, my belly is huge. Do you think there is a point of no return? The point where it would be very hard to ever be skinny again?

thats this FA's fantasy seein someone strugging to button on his pants cause his belly has grown to big to contain it

I don't have the experience myself...but from BHM I have talked to..it seems their gaining starts snowballing, their metabolism slows down so much that they gain faster and faster without really trying so hard....

Default sort of

It probably depends on a lot of other factors (like how you carry the weight, how fit you are, how tall you are, how much of your weight is muscle, and so on), but for me when I get up to about 225 I seem to hit an almost physical reluctance to do a lot of things. Some of it is probably just not being used to my weight, making me feel slower and more awkward. On the other hand, some of it is very direct: at that size my belly is big enough that it is getting in my way more. Bending over gets harder in particular, this has a couple of effects at the least. I sit down to put on shoes or boots, and that is still a bit of a hassle, so I’m that much more reluctant to say go out at lunch for a quick walk. Bending over to pick up things gets harder so I just don’t bend over as much, doing generally less up and down movement. I start to jiggle more around that size, and my thighs start to rub more, making me that much less apt to try and move quickly. So overall there becomes a general tendency to slow down and do less. Not a conscious thing, and something that I can overcome with conscious effort, but just sort of a natural avoidance of what is difficult. So for me once I hit that size if I did not consciously make changes I think it could be self-sustaining because my activity level would drop, so even with the same eating my weight would go up. But speaking of the same eating, the other thing too is that if you are used to eating more and cut back to ‘normal’ you will probably find that you are hungry—your body gets used to eating a certain amount and expects you to keep it up. So after a while of overindulging it becomes more natural to keep up that eating level. Combine that with how easy it becomes to be less active, and the additive effect that if you are doing less other things you might end up eating more in that spare time, and I think that it can easily snowball. It does not have to, it is not inevitable, but I think it can happen if you let it happen. However I don’t think you are off the hook in a “there is nothing I can do about it now” sort of way. (although losing more than 10% of body weight for the long term is difficult for most people, so you are not likely to become skinny, but I’m sure you could become thinner if you tried.
