Default Let Her Eat Pot!

Truth be told, I don't smoke pot nowadays, but I've "tried it," (but didn't inhale! ). It seems harmless enough. While I don't know if I'd vote to legalize weed across the board, I did vote to legalize it for medical use here in California several years ago. If this poor woman claims it helps her, then where's the crime? I mean, honestly!

Court: Dying can be charged for using marijuana
POSTED: 2:00 p.m. EDT, March 14, 2007

SAN FRANCISCO, California (AP) -- A California woman whose doctor says marijuana is the only medicine keeping her alive is not immune from federal prosecution on drug charges, a federal appeals court ruled Wednesday.

The case was brought by Angel Raich, an Oakland mother of two who suffers from scoliosis, a brain tumor, chronic nausea and other ailments. On her doctor's advice, she eats or smokes marijuana every couple of hours to ease her pain and bolster a nonexistent appetite as conventional drugs did not work.

The Supreme Court ruled against Raich two years ago, saying that medical marijuana users and their suppliers could be prosecuted for breaching federal drug laws even if they lived in a state such as California where medical pot is legal.

If she's extremely ill and if cannabis relieves her pain and suffering, who is being harmed? Is Uncle Sam being harmed in some fashion? Why would anyone begrudge relieving someone's pain and suffering?

As I watched my dad wither to nothing in the last year of his life and him eating one bite off his plate, I can say that if he were open to the use of MJ to exxtend his life I would've been the first to get him some.

If it increases appetite for people whose survival is dependent on caloric intake then it should be a crime to keep it from them.

Honestly, Risible - you don't strike me as a toker - more of an Alice B. Toklas brownies sort . . .

But, moving on - That Housman quote has been massaged in every possible way, certainly substituting Pot for Malt, and Miltown for Milton. And the idea of using a bit of the ol' mary jane for alleviating, if not justifying, pain strikes me as quite in keeping with Housman's meaning.

If I ever find myself in her predicament, well, they can find me, sittin' on that sack o' seeds, puffing away, a smile on my face and cancer in my body - and they can just haul me away!

I dont need to tell you, just look and from my thoughts on the act it's pretty easy to tell that I'm a burner. I mean I do it for recreation often but I started for other reasons. Because of my disability I have really bad leg spasims that cause me great amounts of pain and make it hard to function from time to time. So I started smoking for medicinal uses when I was younger looking for anything that would work to ease the pain, seeing how nothing any doctor did would help. So it starts working really well for me and I keep doing it regularly when money or ability to get permits. Me sadly living on the east coast makes finding it a little difficult at times. But I believe without a shadow of a doubt that pot has helped me with pain. I'm basically a pefect example of how much help it can do for a person

agreed...1000%. ill admit to being a once-in-a-blue-moon user of murryjane, and i know for a fact i wouldn't touch the stuff it was harmful to myself or those around me. have you ever recieved a phone call from someone who has recently endulged in said fresh produce? talk about a pick me up!

seriously though, it's extremely selfish and plain wrong of the government to keep marijuana from patients who need it simply because there are no real companies who would benefit from its sale or whatever the hell reason they could fabricate.

I just have to give a big shout out to the Ninth Circuit. Of all the
things I miss about San Francisco, the politics are high on the list.

I'm allergic to pot (that made parties at Berkeley really fun. i'll
just go sit on the porch now.), but obviously support its
legalization. Even if it didn't have so many medicinal applications, I
would be hard-pressed to think of a reason that we should limit access
to something essentially harmless when we push cigarettes like they're
going out of style...which I guess, they are.

I digress. As usual.

There's a pot club in SF, and lots of my friends were members. Those
dudes were Up To Date on the latest and greatest methods of getting
THC into your system. My friend Mike used to call me with these
rhapsodic descriptions of the newest forms at the club ("dude,
seriously? fuck smoking it. that's weak. it's all about the liquid.
two drops and you're GONE.").

Back to the topic at hand, hooray for Angel Raich fighting for her
right to treat her illness. Hooray for the Ninth seeing the obvious.
That's a skill that we seem to be losing these days.

oh God...memories, lol.

This was a long time ago and I don't do any sort of "drug" these days. I'm all grown up and shit, lol.

BUT! I can tell you...if you are going to make a pan of brownies....you know, the little square pan. Either use less than an ounce or cut the pan into more than brownies, lol. Or else you will pass out for the first day only to wake up higher than a kite the second day, lol. Just some words of wisdom. But like I said...that was the stuff of my past. I'm all straight laced now that I am married and carry responsibilities and stuff

Brownies, alas.

For a few years I worked at a gigantic corporate law firm. On my birthday a fellow drone brought me some brownies. I thought they were, you know, NORMAL BROWNIES.

So I sauntered back to my cube, got some coffee, and proceeded, at 10 in the morning, to eat all 4 brownies. About ten minutes later I emailed the friend and said thanks, and then heard him RUN around to my cube and say "oh my god did you eat those!?"...they were made with hash. Quite a healthy amount of it, I might add.

I spent the next TWELVE hours laughing to myself and falling asleep every ten minutes. Also, I think I drafted a subpoena. I actually had to wait until I was down to leave work, because I couldn't remember how to get on the subway.

Then later, due to aforementioned allergy, I was spectacularly ill.

Your legal system, friends.

Is it normal that me and my mom bake hash brownies together? She has this recipe that completely demolishes you and they are soooooooooo good.

Is it normal that me and my mom bake hash brownies together? She has this recipe that completely demolishes you and they are soooooooooo good.
I think that's awesome. Being able to be open with your family is always better.

My mom doesn't do any drugs but has no problem with me doing so, as long as I'm careful. When I was in college I used to call her when I was on lots of acid.

Those were really unproductive conversations, mostly because I was forever trying to explain something profound about the connection between Star Wars and the Beastie Boys.

Yea, I love it, me and my mom bond over pot and dreadlocks lol. But seeing how they took me to a grateful dead show when I was 3 you can see how liberal they are with that sort of stuff. My entire family but my younger brother seem to be the biggest burners ever, it's really funny to just have a family bonding session that includes passin the bong.

It's all political bullshit behind it, and what they do to people like that is criminal, and they should be locked up. Alcohol does far, far more damage, but pot gets demonized.

I don't do it any more, but for a long time it helped with pain issues. Hell, it would probably help me sleep, but I just don't enjoy the high any more. Even more, I also grew up with many different kinds, preferring Gold Columbian, Maui wowie, Jamaican and Thai stick, but these days it's all sensimilla -- the crap I grew up with that still smells like a mixture of sweat and skunk. Blech. I definitely voted for it to be legalized here in California, and the feds piss me off with their political games.

After WWII Wm Randolph Hearst had all the streetcar tracks torn up and got pot criminalized.
