We just ordered a 'meal for one' to share from the local chinese.
Chicken with pepper in blackbean sauce (full portion) two pancake rolls large egg fried rice large portion of salt and pepper chips (fries to most here) Cup of sweet and sour sauce and... FOURTEEN HUGE pork balls! Why are the meals so big. I'm stuffed, Nik is stuffed, we've got loads left over and it was a meal for ONE supposedly. But I can't recall ever seeing many fat chinese people, how come? |

It's a Chinese restaurant out of China..... I'm sure they vary some things to accommodate the customers of the country they are in. Like the way the Mexican restaurants here, ran by real Mexicans, usually don't make things as hot/spicy as they do in Mexico. Just my theory.....

I've had "real" chinese food, and it's good, but yeah, different. I like some stuff better authentic, and some stuff, well, I AM a Westerner.
I like my moo goo gai pan and men who don't cry. ![]()

Every time I read the menu I think of you because I see pan thai or whatever it's called. Still not tried that.

Em, if you like noodles, you'll love it! If you like spicy stuff, better yet!

Oooooh I love both noodles and spicey stuff however I don't like anything too dry (Gimme lots of sauce any day). Is it a dry type dish or something saucey?

Green..yup..my roomie/ex is from Mexico City and when we have gone to a couple of Mexican restaurants, he will ask for items not on the menu.
I have to say I rarely, in my experience, see many even chubby Chinese people running restaurants. That does not mean they are not hearty eaters, but, I have a Swiss ex sister in law and she is very small, tiny really, but she climbs mountains and eats quite a lot. The deal with her is she does not do much snacking in between her main meals. But the woman can put food away. |

Hahaha!, the Chinese don't poison their own food with MSG, just
ours, the customers' food. That's why they're not fat and we are. I LOVE Chinese, too, but it was KILLING me and I had to stop eating it !!!

It's slightly saucy. Depends on how it's made. They're more oily than saucy.

A lot of the food served in Chinese resraurants is "party food". It would be akin to Americans serving the Chinese egg nog, pot roast, scalloped potatoes and mud pie as an ordinary meal. And yes, I realize for many of us here, it IS an ordinary meal.
