Now, c'mon. If you had the opportunity to get bizzy with 20 very eager & very willing young ladies from CL, and you were single/accountable to no one, you're going to stand before God and all of Dimsland and say ... you wouldn't jump all over that?

Just checkin' to make sure there's no double standard at play here

Unfortunately I have a long history of being a magnet for crazies. At this point in my life the pain of being alone hurts less than the pain of waking up in a tub filled with ice and knowing your kidneys are already 1000 miles away.

I would consider something like adultfriendfinder before CL; it strikes me as the Dollar General of fuckbuddy sites. Plus to me the whole "casual encounter" thing sounds so much like a game show entitled "Name that Suspicious Sore!" I mean, christ, they're talking now about getting an HPV vaccine if you're a man who likes cunnilingus too much--may cause throat/mouth cancer. Egads.

I don't even trust condoms sometimes--half the viruses out there are smaller than the pore size of latex. I'd want to find a sexually selective single woman or a nice working mother with good kids that are well taken care of who doesn't have time to sleep around, much less with 20 or so guys in a single year.

I don't blame the CL girl; she admitted up front she loves sex, so who am I to criticize her for wanting quantity over quality? For me personally, I'm not sure if I want to be with someone who has to resort to using their toes to count out how many lovers they've had in a year. Is it just me? Am I already this close to "get the hell off my lawn you young ragscamps?" If I were to become single again, would I be like those farm-raised chickens who wouldn't last a minute out in the wild with the rest of the more well-adapted feral chickens?

If you mistrusted them I guess. Tubes grow back, doctors make patients aware of that possiblity. If I got pregnant by someone who had a vasectomy and he even tried to hint that the baby wasn't his I wouldn't be in a relationship with him any longer.

If I'm gonna trust you enough to have sex without a condom you damn well better trust me to be faithful.

maybe the guy she got pregnant by was a one time thing just before she met the new guy? maybe she just assumed she was pregnant by him?

A lot of guys don't know their partners are cheating on them until the blood test shows their child isn't theirs. While a tiny number of pregnancies occur after a vasectomy, the vast majority of men never produce children after the procedure.

Realisically speaking, it is a clue that something went wrong in the relationship. Now that's not saying I'd immediately accuse her of cheating. I'd get a sperm count done to see if I was actually shooting blanks or not. Even if I was, I'd still wait until the blood test after the child was born.

Trust but verify.

Every now and then you hear of stories in the news of women trying to establish the paternity of their child and having dragged ten or more guys in for blood tests.

There's a part of me that thinks blood tests should be mandatory for all births.

Not a huge part though.

I dont know, if my ex-husband had ever asked me for a blood test to prove paternity I would have flatly refused.

Under those circumstances I would have arranged to have it done privately, without your knowledge. "Flatly refused" can also be taken as "something to hide". It wouldn't be the first time a person has denied wrongdoing.

I worked for a private investigator long enough to know that the more adamant people are about being believed, the more likely they are to have something to hide. You have to consider how it looks to the other person before becoming too upset about their misgivings. If you really want to put aside his misgivings let the test happen and when the results come in just smile and say "I told you so".

All his misgivings will be put aside and forgotten in five minutes.

You could use the guilt to your advantage, too! (foot rubs, cleaning, etc.)

yeah sorry for me it doesn't work that way. There wouldn't be any smiling and saying I told you so. There would just be so long sucka. I can't be in a relationship with someone who chooses not to trust me. There would be no way of repairing that.

See, me, I'd probably be quite upset that he doubted me--but I'm not going to put myself in a situation where it comes up until I'm married anyhow, at which point I'd hope my husband knew me well enough to trust me and I knew him well enough to know why he was doubting.

In that situation I could see myself saying, "Fine, I'll prove it, let's get a paternity test," before he even got to that point. Mostly because I like being right.

And yeah, I could see his doubting being an argument we'd have to work through--but I can't see it, in a situation where you're not expecting a baby to be possible, being insurmountably difficult to overcome. Heck, it might be something we'd laugh about when we were ninety and in a nursing home somewhere playing checkers.

Of course, there's a lot of imagination and speculation in my response, without much personal experience to back it up. It just seems reasonable enough to me that someone might wonder in that situation that I can't see it as a complete breach of trust worth kicking someone out of your life--especially the father of your child.

That is exactly what I would expect from someone who had nothing to hide.

The unfortnate thing is, terminating the relationship with a child involved and paternity contested would absolutely assure a test.

Then you'd be stuck dealing with a guy on birthdays, holidays, school events, and all the other little stuff for all eternity as an adversary because you could not make one concession to alleviate his fears.

ahh well, if he was like you and snuck around and got it done there'd be a test anyway right? :o) I just know I'm not the forgiving type, and that if someone I was in a relationship with, thought so little of me as to think that I'd have an affair and try to pass off someone elses baby as theirs, then they aren't the right person for me to be with. Its much easier dealing with someone on birthdays and holidays and whatnot than it would be to be bitter and angry and living with them from day to day.

Somehow I doubt she'd give a rat's ass what you think.

Not a huge part though.
Now you made me curious....do you mind if I ask if you had a blood test done with your own son?

That's a very good question. I considered it but didn't. He looks too much like me. If it were mandatory I wouldn't have put up any resistance though, and it probably would have put that 1% of a misgiving out of my head. My ex wanted a child at almost any cost. Knowing what I know now after the divorce, if I didn't get her pregnant fast enough I'm certian she would've sought a more fertile man elsewhere while remaining married to me.

If I found out today that my 10 year old son weren't mine I wouldn't say anything, either. I have too much invested in our relationship and by now it would be just another rotten thing my ex did to me during our marriage. Honestly though, if there was any possibility he could be from another father my ex would have used it against me in our divorce to keep him to herself.
