In the playoffs, pitching equals championships. There's only one other team in the American League with better pitching than the Indians....and unfortunately it's the Boston Red Sox.
I'll be routing for the Tribe, but I see the Sox winning in 6. |

World Series Records for the 2007 Playoff Teams since 1903 Team (W.S. Record, Last Year Won, Team Record Dating Back To Year) Yankees (26-12, 2000, since 1903) Red Sox (6-4, 2004, since 1903) Indians (2-3, 1948, since 1903 ) Angels (1-0, 2002, since 1961) Rockies (0-0, ----, since 1993) Phillies (1-4, 1980, since 1903) Diamondbacks (1-0, 2001, since 1998) Cubs (2-8, 1908, since 1903) I sometimes wonder why Bosox fans were felt so sorry for other than having to play in the shadow of the Yankees. But look at the pain and suffering for the Indians, Phillies and Cubs. When the Rockies go a few more decades, then I'll feel sorry. My team lost its 10,000th game this year. But I did see them win a World Series when I was 12 years old. Don't think I'll ever see it again. So with the Cubs and Phils out, I vote for the TRIBE. Cleveland v. Rockies. I'll be pullin' for ya...... If that means anything. *source is at this link: http://www.baseball-almanac.com/ws/wsmenu.shtml |

I'm pretty sure you misspelled Red Sox in the thread title.

honestly, being in a family that's OBSESSED with cleveland sports ... and growing up in municipal stadium and then jacobs field, all i want to do is just see one professional athlete from my hometown team hoist a fucking trophy in the air.
and while i am hopelessly devoted to the browns, they clearly aren't going to be doing that anytime ... well ... this decade. and while the cavs will hopefully give us a good run for the next couple years (let's not even get into the finals this past year) ... i really think the tribe has a good shot at making a run for the title this year. especially versus the yankees -- for anyone that's watched the indians throughout the entire season this past summer, they really looked quite cohesive out there. our bats were on fire and the defense was solid. now, i'm not saying that i'll be sitting easy whenever i see joe borowski warm up in the bullpen (because that would be a DAMN lie) ... but it's not like we aren't playing to a pretty high standard right now. of course, i love being the underdog. in fact, i think that's the best mindset for us. i think it's when everyone expects us to do well and kick ass and suddenly everyone is on the cleveland bandwagon (which always causes me to look around and go, "who ARE you people and WHERE have you come from?!" ) that we pretty much self-combust, suck, lose and let the LONG-running cleveland curse sink back into the mistake by the lake.but to wrap it up, i'll basically say that i think we have a damn good shot at it all this year. and nothing would be better than beating effin' ramirez in that bosox jersey. DAMN YOU RAMIREZ. I HAD TO THROW AWAY MY #24 T-SHIRT BECAUSE OF YOU. traitor. oh yeah. i threw this on the cubs thread ... but uh, it's FAR more fitting here. and i basically laugh whenever i see it, so uhh... ![]()

awwwww man, i could've had the coolest quote to go along with that, but it's on my friend john's aim profile and he isn't logged in right now. it was basically some quote from an espn article shortly after the red sox won the world series, and it was something along the lines of what you're saying there. the espn guy ended the article with poking fun at boston for all of their whining about how "unlucky" they are and he then said something like, "hey guys, tell it to cleveland." it's so true! if we end up with that national title when all is said and done, this city is going to flip the hell out. it'll be a sight i haven't seen once in my life. i'm excited for the possibility, man. ![]()

Seeing as how I have the uncanny ability to know exactly how that Yankees fan up there feels
(at least someone's still getting a kick out of it!), all I can say is please, please, please, please beat Boston! |

Hello! People call him Man-Ram. Seriously, that's an awful nickname for an awful guy, haha.
edit: It's come to my attention that he is now tied with Bernie Williams for most post-season HR's all-time. This makes me very sad... Last edited by themadhatter : 10-10-2007 at 12:33 PM. |
