Default % bodyfat

bought one of those scales today that measures all this and also weight up to 180kg so i was quite pleased with the thought i need to break this scale, my previous one was 120kg limit! result was 51%. according to the manual for a man 30-40 (although i MUST point out i am young 32!) the bodyfat % should be 20-30%. how accurate are these devices? i weigh about 21stone, at 5'4" and have a visible muscle mass as well as a fat/bulk covering, so i would have thought my % was about 25-35.
