RIP - Our fur baby Pearlie. :(

This is the hardest thing we have ever had to do. Pearlie was having trouble breathing today - so we had to make the decision we both have been dreading. I know it's infinately kinder to let her go -- But I want my baby back, now.

You only get one dog like Pearlie - if you're lucky.

The dog, definitely one of GOD's most special creatures, they love us with
total abandon, even making fools out of themselves in showing us that love.
They're "wannabe kids" who just don't know that they're dogs. I'm sorry to
hear of the loss of your canine friend.

She said goodbye to me.

When Wayne was taking her to the Vet he brought her in the house. She came through the living room - head down, tail down looking miserable but she saw me. She walked over to the couch - put her front paws up on the couch so we were face to face. She looked at me - did her Pearlie smile (like the picture I posted) perked up, stood there while I petted her - kissed me - and then followed Wayne out the door.

What a moment she gave me. What a dog. I hope she comes back to us someday.

I got back from the vet a little while ago.

I had to help Pearlie into our Element - she normally jumped right in when I opened the back door, but not this time. And as I was driving along, she stood in-between the two front seats so she could be as close to me as possible.

The vet told me that Sandie and I had made the right decision - that based on what he saw on her x-rays last week, it was only a matter of time when she would stop eating, and this was much more humane than letting her starve.

I was there as they gave her the injection, and I stayed with her as she drifted away.

We decided to have her cremated, and we should get her ashes back on Monday. And I cut off a few bits of her hair before I took her to the vet. And of course, we have a lot of memories of the nine years we had Pearl in our lives.

The house is going to seem very empty for a while....

I'm deeply sorry for your loss. I know how it feels to lose ones closest friend. My cat, Pearl(Coincidence?), was diagnosed with blood anemia and a heart murmur and cat lukemia all in one day. My birthday. We had to put her down that very same day.

It's hard when you lose them, you'll always have them in your heart because they will always be there. It takes time to heal, love her memory and keep strong.
