A 4am rant from my blog, if I may...

Been working for months on a couple of new Betty Boop Style Guides for King Features Syndicate/The Hearst Corporation... parts of this require me to work into the night to get a good image on my light-table to trace the final image in India Ink onto 2-Ply Bristol Board. Many movies are seen on cable out of the corner of my eye... and at 3am is when they show the really paranoid ones. I've been watching passages of THE GOOD SHEPHERD over and over this last week. These are reminding me of the fascinating career of Gloria Steinem and her work for the CIA and how it shaded into her later publishing career. I'm mentally crossreferencing what I've read about this with what I've posted about NPR's role in the runup to the Invasion... http://www.fair.org/index.php?page=1123 almost as if all commentators, especially Scott Simon and Bob Edwards on MORNING EDITION the Friday 3 weeks before the Invasion began... were called into the office and given marching orders... note that as August became September in '02 ALL Mainstream Media began using the phrase 'Were Kicked Out' in describing the UNSCOM inspectors and their withdrawal in '98... well, I've brought this up before. What went thru the heads of journalists as the Three Little Words were presented to them? Note what one of Gloria's bosses says about journalists being a cheaper hire than hookers...

Now... how do Bloggers fit into this paradigm? What are The Good Shepherds to do as the Sheep proliferate? Who gets hired? Not to exaggerate my delusions of grandeur but I've mentioned the very peculiar private school I went to back when the James Bond paperbacks were first coming out... I like to think that I weasled out of things I was being groomed for and found a parallel track updating a beloved cartoon character from the days when the world saw the USA in a more positive light... a nice, relatively harmless subliminal image...
