Going on vacation

Today I venture down to Cape Cod for a week of relaxation. I am completely burnt out physically and mentally. I am working myself to death and I can't sleep in between shifts for a variety of reasons. I have been asking my friends from around the state if they could hang out with me and have gotten little to no Yes answers....for that I just need to get away.

Its a toxic lifestyle I'm living right now, all work and no play/food/rest....and the main reason I work so much is the absence of "true" friends. I'm not saying I don't have friends, but a lot of them work as much as I do and aren't available most of the week. I forgive the friends that I know their schedules and aren't availble, however I cannot forgive the ones who just BS me. The ones who say "lets hangout thursday" and thursday rolls around "ohhh i'm gonna go play bingo tonight, sorry hun". With friends working and people claiming to be my friends pulling me around, I have other no alternative than to say yes when that 10:45 PM call comes in to ask if I want to work. Then say yes at 9 AM when they call again, and on...and on...and on, minimal sleep, minimal food, no time to relax. By thursday night I'd have worked nonstop since Sunday or Monday night....and what will my friend say when I ask to hang out friday night? "I'm working" or "I'm out with friends"

This week I'll be shutting my phone off and just chilling by the pool and the beach, I'll be completely alone but hey.....that's what I've been virtually since last October so I can take it. Take care everyone

KHayes, There is a possibility your friends are not leading you on, but are really hoping they can get free and join in your plans. They are waiting 'till the last minute to see if they can possibly make it. You may have to tell them, I need to know by _____ and give them a certain date. My friends do the same thing, but it's not because they don't care, it's because life, children, jobs, boyfriends, sickness at home, small emergencies, the cat gets ill, they run low on funds, and other stuff stops them from participating at the last minute. The older we get, the more baggage we have that keeps us from doing as those neat things and wonderful road trips of our youth. My boss used to make us schedule vacations, a year ahead of time. Pretty spontaneous, huh?

I don't know you very well, but, after reading many of your posts, I felt I should say my 2 cents worth.

From what you've posted, I am glad you realize the need to "re-charge". I am sorry that you have no one to vacation with, but that may be a good thing. This way, you can do as you like and really, really chill-out.

I hope you have a relaxing vacation and come back well fed and rested.

KHAYES........It sounds like you need some boundaries with your work / toxicity...from dating a bf that worked from 11am-4am most every day 7 days a week and ultimately chose work over a relationship....he lost out on the awesomeness of *ME* in his life no ego here...lmao..

anyways I LOVE The cAPE!!! i am happy for you...i went to school in boston and amherst, so spent lots of time at p-town and marthas vinyard and block island...so beauteaus!!!!!!! xxox CHILLLLLLLLLLLl

Bit of an update

I made my way to the Falmouth Public Library where I was able to check a few emails and updates around here.

Everything is going as planned, I feel 50% already, 5 more days and I'll be back to normal.....although this hot girl next door already has winked at me a few times while I'm at the pool.....woot woot ;-)

KHayes, I notice you were back posting. How was your vacation? Did you get a chance to decompress? Do you feel rested/better? Do anything neat?

I feel a whole lot better now. Going into vacation I was really angry and needed sleep, and that's exactly what I got.

When I wasn't at the beach, at the pool or at Cape Cod League baseball games I was passed out on the most comfortable sofa ever watching Tales From the Crypt, Psych and Saturday Night Live season 1 DVD's.

I also stayed away from soda, ice cream, pop tarts and most importantly eating before I went to sleep. I swear I developed acid reflux due to the toxic lifestyle I was leading so maybe getting laid off at the Herald will be the worst thing financially but the best thing health wise.

I'm still angry at people for texting me when I don't want them to and then refusing to hang out with me when I'm actually awake, but I'll learn to deal with it.

I go back to work tuesday but there ain't a chance in hell i'm working the same schedule i've been doing since the end of April, i'd drop dead by October.

Thanks all for your support, I'm about 80% now and should be back to normal by tuesday.
