I want to give this Thanksgiving card to everyone.....
http://www.jacquielawson.com/viewcar...ode=HY27482779 Yes, I'm a slight bit early but I am sure some members are going away for the holidays. What are your plans this year? Want to share your best Thanksgiving memory? Want to tell me what your favorite food dishes are? What is special about Grandma's stuffing or pudding? Tell me what you are thankful for? Let's talk about Thanksgiving! I am thankful for my healthy, intelligent, beautiful children above all other things. I am thankful for my health and abilities. I am thankful for those that I have left to love me and think of me in this life. Your turn....... Oh, and Happy Thanksgiving ![]()

Happy Thanksgiving GEF.....
The past few years we have had Thanksgiving at my house, though my mom prepares the turkey and brings it over. (I haven't yet mastered that one) I prepare everything else. We are Italian, so some form of pasta is our main dish. The turkey, stuffing, vegetables, and potatoes are side dishes. We also have salad and gravy. My mom's stuffing is outstanding. She puts chicken liver in it and cooks it inside the turkey. (I know many don't) Our main dish being some form of pasta is generally stuffed shells, manicotti or lasagna, with meatballs as well. This year I'm making stuffed shells. Holidays aren't usually big deals with us. It's only our immediate family that gets together, and we see each other several times a week, so getting together for a holiday isn't anything special. If my brother that lives in Missouri comes up, then it's a bigger deal because we only see him once or twice a year. This year my new boyfriend is coming for Thanksgiving. He's met my parents and one of my brothers, but has yet to meet my nephew and other brother. I'm really looking forward to him being there. One little tradition that we've started a few years ago has to do with Christmas actually. I have a large family room (24' x 24' with 10.5' ceilings) so I have a large, 9 ft. artificial Christmas tree. Well, it's rather heavy, and it's not something I can put up myself. So, on Thanksgiving, my brothers usually drag it out and put it up for me. This year, my boyfriend will be helping, so that should be fun! That's it for us... we sure aren't the average family, but we seem to do okay!! ![]() |

Wow, that was an interesting read! Stuffed shells are good...I have never made those.
Lol, and I love the 9 ft tree. I have a six foot white one I haven't put up on a few years because of the little ones but it's going up this year ![]() I am really looking forward to enjoying the holidays this year. Hope that your time with your new love interest and family is great, Christine ![]()

So for any of you out there who want to come for dinner hit me up ...its always nice to have company. Last edited by chunkeymonkey : 11-23-2008 at 08:35 AM. Reason: more to be thankful for :) |

Happy Thanksgiving to you all!
My family and I are traveling to West Virginia to be with my grandmother cousins and uncle. My cousin gave birth to a baby girl who turned a year old, so I'm anxious to see her again. I'm thankful for my family and friends as well as getting the opportunity to see my grandmother and other family members again. My favorite dishes are stuffing and my grandmother's sweet potato pie. My favorite memories are when we all first arrive there and we all just sit around and talk with each other. We all always wake up to watch the Macy's Parade together and help with dinner afterword.

![]() Everyone gathers at my mom's house for Thanksgiving. She makes the turkey and stuffing, and everyone else brings something to contribute to dinner. This year I am making Macaroni and Cheese with bacon. I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving ![]()

Thanksgiving is not celebrated in Australia.
However I will celebrate Chanukah in December and Australia Day in January. I will talk about those holidays instead if that is ok? I love Chanukah because I light the Chanukiah with my family each night. We also eat ponchkas and latkes, nice oily food. ![]() I love Australia Day because it reminds me how lucky I am to live in the best country in the world. It is truely magical here. Most people have a picnic on that day and it is during the heat of the summer here. I am thankful for my family. I am thankful for my friends IRL and online, especially at Dims. I am thankful for many things. Life is good. I truely am blessed. |

my daughter and i are cooking the 20lb turkey i bought (which reminds me i have to take that out of the freezer..dang.). most of my family lives up north and i am out of vac time, so can't go there for holiday. we have invited some friends over for dinner, so we'll have a fun gathering here at home. turkey and all the trimmings.
![]() vb..we put our tree together on thanksgiving evening also! then next weekend we will decorate for christmas. the nice part about living in the carolinas is that the weather is more tolerable than up north...but i do miss a white christmas! |

Happy Thanksgiving to you GEF and all of the Dims folks, even those in other countries who may have different holidays. For Thanksgiving this year, as we have done for the last past few times, we will be taking our trailer to a campground called Newport Dunes where we will be spending five days with friends of ours.

As for the Thanksgiving goodies... At the campground where we stay, there will probably be at least 8 other families in their trailers that we will be next to or across the lane from (with all the modern amenities such as stoves and microwaves... "camping" ain't what it used to be...), we combine the meal, each person has their specialty. The past few years (and I'm assuming this year also...) the dinner consisted of a traditional thanksgiving with turkey, stuffing, potatoes, gravy and the usual fixings. Mtmaiden often times makes a pasta salad, I think that is what she is going to make this time. Being in the campground is one of the few opportunities for Junior to ride a bicycle on flat ground, so she'll ride around with the other kids that come along. Each year the entire group goes on a bicycle ride to the beach which is a couple of blocks away. We always take pictures of our group (20 +/- people...) going on the Balboa Island ferry. They usually have to make one trip specifically for our group. We will be heading out this Wednesday.

I have to work tomorrow but we are all working through lunch and last appointments are at 1 pm so we will be leaving early tomorrow
![]() Also, there are leftovers from today's lunch buffet we had. It was a turkey and ham provided by the company and the rest was pot luck. Lots of good stuff to eat. ![]()
